ComputerBase article ( translated English)
From the discussion at Rage3D Link
To enable full trilinear filtering on RV3x0 and R420 (for those who can't make any sense out of the CPU-translations):
1st step (find the correct registry path):
* open the registry editor
* search for "AntiAliasSamples"
* to make sure that you found the correct "AntiAliasSamples", change the AA setting in your control panel and press F5 in the registry editor. If the value of "AntiAliasSamples" changed, you found the correct path.
2nd step (force fulltrilinear):
* using the path found above enter all of the following three keys for X800 cards or only the two "RV350*" keys for RV3x0 cards:
String "RV350TRPER" 1
String "RV350ANTHRESH" 1
String "R420AnisoLOD" 2
That's all. Don't forget that one most has probably to reinitialize the D3D settings or reboot for this changes to take effect.
EDIT: This is for beta catalyst drivers only.
If its true, seems like a option in the drivers should be forthcoming one way or another.
