I see very few advantages, if any, to the internship.

Take the full time for sure. I'm sure a big corporation like that will have tuition reimbursement for your MBA or MS or whatever when you do it, but definitely ask them about it. My (smaller, but still large...~10k employees) company will pay for up to $15k a year. I'm going to get my MBA eventually, just a matter of when...

Sounds like a good job and fun adventure.

Had about a 2 hour phone call with my potential manager last night. Went really, really well. I'll be getting the official offer in writing (dollars, relo, etc.) early next week. However, I already feel like I'm leaning towards full time anyways :p

full time. decide if you actually want to get an mba, then put a time limit on it. ie. "i want to have my mba by X years into my career". then work towards making this happen, dont just let the years pass by because there is currently a good opportunity to strike when/while the iron is hot and it's easy to just enjoy it.

as others have said, masters are bleh. my advice would be to save it for the unlikely and unlucky chance you would ever need to retrain due to job loss.

I am really struggling with my options too. I have been in IT for about 15 years now and can't decide what to do next. I've been in various infrastructure roles and now am a developer. There just doesn't seem to be any upward mobility in IT these days, at least in the companies I've worked for in the Indy area.

I'm afraid to sink time (and possibly money) into an MBA if it won't let me leave IT or at least, move up and get more money. It seems to be a very uncertain prospect in these times. I think the quickest route of least resistance to more money would be to go the consulting route, but I am not sure how I feel about that.

What say you, ATOT?

i have a similar complaint about this field and engineering in general. it seems easy to quickly top out, so to speak.

i would say try to get a high powered mba (like a top school), then you will have options to go to other fields/companies. you might have to move, however.

if you like consulting and self employment(someone else i know does this, but they also have another income stream like their wife has a business or something), then all bets are off, skip the mba. i suppose it depends on your risk tolerance as well.
