<< Your also assuming of course that none of these slots in anyway shape or form share with anything else slowing down performance or creating conflicts, big stretch that one. Folks start your engines its time for the pci slot shuffle no wait there arent any to do so oh well. This is again as i've previously stated great for oem's or anyone else not interested in tweaking or genrally messing around with their boxes, fine so be it. But this isnt the flavor of the month for everyone. >>

huh?

shared pci slots as in pci/isa slot sharing?...not a problem since there's no legacy isa slots...i don't get what would be conflicting?...pci irq allocation? why would that be a problem on this particular chipset than with any other board/chipset?

again, i think this chipset is solely intended for OEM/low cost system integrators.

Uh thanks kfloster just answered what i've been trying to say here . :D Nort do me a fav buy nvidias stock your so in love, on second thought take a few classes in reading comprehension so that maybe you can understand better. Really a skirt, not bad maybe that explains the problem understanding what folks post, i know sexist joke but oh well we males have those kind of problems. Lighten up you only live once.

Actually fkloster, I would be satisfied with 3 PCI slots "IF" this NVidia board comes with an integrated 56k modem as well. Right now, I have thse following PCI devices:

Santa Cruz
56k Winmodem
Netgear FA310TX 10/100 NIC
Hauppage WinTV Model 401

If this board comes with integrated LAN and a 56k modem (even if it doesn't have an integrated modem, I could still make do), I could make do with just 3 PCI slots. But I WILL NOT give up my Santa Crux for ANY integrated sound solution.

What is ((Media and Communications Processor)) and when putting 3 DDR sticks the mobo will use a 64bit channel right? then why wont the bandwidth get less

I am the type of person that likes to have as many PCI slots as possible.

I have used PCI slots for the following:

PCI SCSI card
PCI TV tuner card
PCI Firewire card
PCI Ultra66/100 IDE card
PCI hardware DVD decoder

Also there are interesting PCI cards in the future:

PCI USB 2.0
PCI hardware Mpeg2 encoder
PCI Digital HDTV tuner

With the problems you seem to be having comprehending, My advice would be to have someone else build it for you because you haven't a clue child. Now please move along.

So has there been any news/info about whether the whole system will be able to take advantage of the extra bandwidth or just the IGP? Because there was that bit in one news blurb a few days ago that NSF4 posted about here that said:

<< Though it's been pointed out in the past, it's worth repeating. While the crush 12 northbridge may have a 128-bit memory interface, the Athlon FSB remains at 64-bit. This means the extra bandwidth afforded by the wider pathway is really only beneficial to the integrated graphics controller, and not the CPU. >>

The integrated video will take advantage of the extra bandwidth I'm told. If that extra bandwidth and the hype around hypertransport are half of what they're built up to be, the integrated video could be just shy of fantastic.

Now all we need is Micron's chipset with 8 megs of level 3 cache, hypertransport, etc.

Erub,
RE:"even for "tweakers" who aren't on the cutting edge this may not be such a bad board. A lot of people here are using a GPU less poweful than a Geforce2 MX"

Finally, a voice of reason...

I'd be shocked if you got them all to work at the same time...

Heh, i can see two devices at least that wont be happy in shared PCI slots.
If someone fancies telling me how theyre going to get that lot working together as a happy family on your average mobo, i might learn something new ;)
