They are closing one where I used to live in CA....it was on the corner of the two main streets there and was always busy....wonder why. There is only one other actual store (unless they opened a new one since I've been gone) - not counting one in the Albertsons.

wow only one in all of arizona? We have a stand alone one NEXT to a target that has one in it. I NEVER understood that logic! And by next to its a stand alone starbucks IN the same parking lot.

Srsly, when I first heard that they were closing a lot of locations, I assumed most of the ones here in Manhattan since there's one on every block. Good thing to know that I'll still be able to get my chai from all the locations by my work and home.
hmm...I was in the one on Wall down the street from NYSE and it had signs up saying it was closing, but it's not on the list. I found that a strange closure. The line is out the door there every time I go. The nearest one (I think) is on William...maybe Beaver? Although I can imagine the rent has gone up quite a bit in the last 7 years.

Oh, right, there's about 11 starbucks in my neighborhood - my neighborhood of like 5x6 blocks. Not to mention multiple Seattle's Bests, Tullys, Uptown Espressos (one of them in the 1st floor of my apartment!).....

I hate this city.

Dude, you're in Seattle -- what did you expect? :)

They're closing the one 2 blocks from where I live. Not that it matters, since I don't drink Starbucks. Hopefully they put in a Stumptown. Now THAT'S good coffee.

Oh boo they're closing the one in the Metreon? I was there 3 months ago and my friend said to go to Starbucks. I asked where and he poitned across the street so we walked out the metreon and ran across the street. Took like 1 minute right? Got my starbucks and came back. Another friend asked where we went and apparently he went to the one IN the Metreon. How retarded? Literally like 200 feet apart or something.

Then we walked half a block to Virgin Records and there was another damn Starbucks. Starbucks in SF is ridiculous.

Never understood the growth of Starbucks. I think I've been to one in my life and that was enough.

Interesting.

Yeah, and AFAIK, even the oldest one opened around four years ago. I think the one here in Bellevue just opened last year.

Not a coffee drinker myself but it surprises me that they're closing the one that is next to the mall. I figure that all the retailers by the mall should be doing pretty good business since there is no attractions here except for the mall.

The one closing here opened less than a year ago I think, but I'm not really surprised; the location isn't that great. Fortunately, I'm not a coffee drinker either. :p

I was always amazed how many there are there.

Chicago and New York each have around 450 store fronts. I guess SB management finally realized that's too many.

Oh my goodness they're closing the one downtown on the main street.

Right across from the one on the other side of the downtown main street.

I think I'll survive.

If their coffee wasn't over-strong sh*t I would actually go there. I hate the stuff and when there's nothing else around and I go there it's twice the cost of anywhere else.

BTW a new one opened by my house 1-2 months ago.

6 Gone in Columbus, OH (and suburbs)

One of them is seriously 4 blocks from another Starbucks though... so it's no surprise.

They are not closing even one in the San Fernando Valley (I do not count Simi Valley ;)), but two in the hood (Crenshaw Blvd., MLK Blvd.).

I'm not surprised at that one...I am surprised that they didn't shut down one of the other THREE that are in that mall. Yes, thats right, THREE starbucks in a single mall.
