Huh, I'm a little surprised they're pulling the one at 16th and Wynkoop, in Colorado. The 16th St mall in Downtown Denver probably has more foot traffic than 90% of their other stores in the state....oh wait, maybe it's because they have a store on every fucking block there.

There's 10 closing in the metro Atlanta area. I've already got like 7 Starbucks within a 5 mile radius of my house. Now I'll be down to a mere 5!

Wow what the hell is wrong with U.S. economy? Here in Istanbul they opened 6 or 7 Starbucks in a year on the SAME STREET.

On the other hand I am saddened about them closing L and 21st in DC as I used to visit that store often when I walked from my apartment in Georgetown to my office on H and 19th. Oh well.

It's not the economy, I think, so much as Starbucks went on a building spree and overbuilt. I've seen multiple Starbucks in the same plazas, on opposite corners, etc. These all provide an initial sales boost that helps the bottom line but they do nothing to help in the long-run.

I've been to several of the 7 they are closing in MA.

Of those, 2 have nearly impossible parking, 2 are in crappy malls, 1 is in a crappy area. Not sure about the other 2.

I don't see why anyone is surprised. It's not like your high priced cup of coffee is something you have to have. Starbuck's business model is tailored to a thriving economy. Consumers will quickly give up their coffee fix if they can't afford to drive to one. I guess they were trying to fix that by having one on every corner. Nevermind that their product isn't worth what they are charging for it.

Srsly, when I first heard that they were closing a lot of locations, I assumed most of the ones here in Manhattan since there's one on every block. Good thing to know that I'll still be able to get my chai from all the locations by my work and home.

Guess the ones around here are too new to close.
There's 3 now. Two under a year old.

I am not a coffee drinker, but I do like their Strawberries and Creme Frappachino. $5 for a large though is painful so I only get one about every 1-2 months.

3241 DENNY & AURORA 620 DENNY WAY SEATTLE WA

That's just 2 blocks away from me. WHAT WILL I DO????

Oh, right, there's about 11 starbucks in my neighborhood - my neighborhood of like 5x6 blocks. Not to mention multiple Seattle's Bests, Tullys, Uptown Espressos (one of them in the 1st floor of my apartment!).....

I hate this city.

They are closing one that opened only a few months ago here. Closing about four in the Omaha area.

Interesting.
