"This resolution establishes the procedure for hearings that are open to the American people, authorizes the disclosure of deposition transcripts, outlines procedures to transfer evidence to the Judiciary Committee as it considers potential articles of impeachment, and sets forth due process rights for the President and his Counsel," Pelosi wrote.

Sounds like a smart idea but I doubt it will make much difference. The repugs will find something else, no matter how flimsy, to rhetorically de-legitimize the inquiry.

This is a bad idea. Whatever "due process rights" the House chooses to grant the President, he and his fellow traitors will declare insufficient and an affront. The Constitution grants no due process rights to a President during House impeachment. Pelosi should have stuck with that.

This isn’t a vote on an impeachment inquiry, this is a vote for the next phase of the investigation and is more about procedure and what rules the house will follow (specifically with regards to public hearings).

Correct. Private interviews will continue as authorized by the rules of the House. Repubs will be right there as they've been all along. Action moves into public hearings of committees including the Judiciary committee where a writ of impeachment must originate, iirc. If the President or his lawyers avail themselves of any process rights granted to them it will grant legitimacy to the proceedings. It's a trap of sorts.

Thank you Lord! Can you bless us with a new super storm Sandy to derail his chances of getting re-elected? I hope his impeachment proceedings are as beautiful as he wants them to be.

Looking forward to this guy's testimony tomorrow (Whistleblower #2--a decorated Army officer who was in the SitRoom during the Zelensky call and reported concerns to the NSC lead counsel.)

There is no satisfying the Repubs because they don't want to be satisfied. It would mean the end to their strategy of obstructing, denying and delaying the proceedings.

They want to be dragged kicking, screaming, whining, bitching and complaining throughout the proceedings and beyond so as to create as much confusion and chaos as possible for the Dems.

No argument against that.

Here's an op-ed from LA Times a few days ago:

Trump's Due Process Dodge on Impeachment

The quantity and degree of nonsense that Trump's surrogates, supporters and allies put up in desperation could -- by itself -- drive someone to violence. It's an affront to sanity, common sense, respectful discourse and human progress.

So how many days till they officially adopt the Mulvaney “it happens all the time, get over it” play?

All that I know is....
Nancy and the democrats in the house had better already found A LOT and by A LOT I mean a real shet-load of evidence on Trump.
House Democrats have adopted this attitude that it doesn't matter, not anymore, whether or not Trump officials do or do not show up when ordered to testify. So apparently, democrats have all they need to send Donald Trump up the river.
Lets just hope Nancy and the house knows what they are doing.
I'd hate to see Trump continue to stonewall and this impeachment thing to simply fade away. Which wouldn't be the first time Trump wiggled out of certain doom....

That's correct thank you and I have added "rules" to the title. Now there's a legal and Constitutional impeachment process as confirmed by the judiciary and the Republicans will have a full house vote on how things go from here. No Trumpettes will surely be happy.... PFFT... sorry, almost spilled my coffee on that one.

Yeah the Democrats have to approve a change in the rules for what they want to do in the public segment as to time limits and who can ask questions (they want professional staff to do so) which is a good move. The Republicans only complained about process because the facts were bad, not out of any actual concern for it.

The right is already all over this guy claiming because he was born in Ukraine his loyalties should be questioned. The guy is a Lt. Colonel, a purple heart recipient, has served honorable in the military for 20 years and has been in the US since he was 3 years old. He has a twin brother as well who also is tasked to the White House and is the same rank.

This is what happens when the facts are so bad for your side. They are attacking everything with whatever shit they can think of.

Doesn't matter. Holding this vote is the proper thing to do for transparency purposes. Even if GOP had already outright said they'd refuse to cooperate after the vote (and their actions say it for them without opening their mouths) the transparency is worth the trivial amount of time to hold the vote.

They have already set up, if somewhat subtly, their next dodge. The new dodge is that they don't have to comply with an 'impeachment inquiry' they only have to comply with an impeachment trial, and that until the house votes on articles of impeachment and sends it over to the Senate it has not legitimacy and they can simply ignore it.

Hey if Hillary can murder 35 people and still walk free then why can't Republicans do the same?
