Full GeForce 8500 and 8600 scores are here

How worthless is that when they don't test an 8800GTS 320 and 640 and GTX on the same system lol
so the best folks can do is TRY to compare those to other 8800 series tests on different systems. 🙁

also "All tests were done on an Intel 975X based mobo with a core Core number numeral core QX6700 @ 2.66Ghz. "
lol great writing there...

Well, knowing that the 8800GTS scores between 8500 and 9500 in 3D06, and the 8800GTX scores between 10K and over 11k depending on CPU, I don't believe its hard to figure out where these cards fit in.

However, imo...it looks like the 8600GT is on the level of a X1900GT, 7900GT etc. While the 8600GTS is on the level of a X1950XT and maybe after a little OC, it would be comparable or faster than the X1950XTX. Which I think makes it a very nice card.

That's the point! The numbers are probably fudged a bit and this prevents direct comparison.

I agree; the 8600 cards appear to be *great* midrange cards and will hopefully be quite cheap at around $150 street prices. 🙂

Well, given the OC on your Core 2, and probably an overclock on your GTS...that is very understandable. But I was referring to stock clocks though.

Looks like none of those 8600-series are as fast as last gen high end cards. I can break 6000 in 3dmark06 with a x1900xt and a Opteron 165, and those cant even do it with a QX6700.

Would the 8600GT or 8600GTS be better than my 7900GS or are those scores inflated because of a QX6700?
I'd like to EVGA step up if the new cards are better, does anyone know the MSRP of the new 8600's?

Agreed.

I get 6400 in 3dmark06.

It's a shame the 8600GTS couldnt match that even with the superior CPU.

While they may not be as fast as your X1900XT, they have the potential value of being able to run DX10. Whether or not there will be enough DX10 titles available during these new card's expected useful lifetime to make it a worthwhile purchase over an older, faster DX9 card is another matter.

i get 61xx with my rig below.
if those scores are correct i am glad i did not wait for the 8600 series.

Looks like I'll save for a 8800GTS 320mb or wait till the next refresh of them come. Which I am more likely to do since all I am looking forward to are Crysis and UT3.

Isnt DX10 supposed to improve performance via less overhead?

Maybe these cards will perform better in DX10 apps as opposed to DX9 apps.

.

Dude, at which resolution and on what type of system? You need comparable systems tested before numbers can be compared.
