Fujitsu MAU3037 (36GB U320 SCSI HD)

Took over a month to get it, but I'm proud to say that my MAU is kicking ass and taking names. Was worth the wait anyways for $210 shipped . Glad I waited and didn't give into getting a raptor! Are there any good free benchmarking tools out there? I wanna see what this baby can do! I used HDTach, but that prog is so out of date I dunno...

Respond if you too feel the SCSI lovin'!!

SCSI bump...

I'm running a 36gig 15k Seagate. I bought a Raptor a while back and was very dissapointed in it, I ended up selling it within 2 weeks and reinstalled my scsi. I picked up a 73gig 15k Hitachi brand new with warranty for $180 on ebay. They can have all the overpriced underperforming Raptors, I'll stick with my SCSI..😀

How's the idel noise level and vibration? I don't mind seeking noise but I would like the idel noise similar to that of the current 7200rpm IDE drives I'm still using my 5 year old Fujitsu MAG3182 10k and I need an upgrade!

OMG this thing is SO QUIET. I can't even begin to say how quiet it is. I use a rheostat to control all my system fans and with them all turned down I can't even hear the hard drive. Personally, I like the sound it makes while seeking, but it's a very repressed sound. Quiet enough to not bother you, but load enough so others around know it's some SCSI goodness going on inside 😎.

On a side note, I load Half-Life 2 levels in about 10s.

Welcome to the Elite club! 🙂

You now own the finest HDD in the world.

WARNING: You are about to embark on a journey that will make your wallet thin!

What's next? A few more of them teamed up on a nice HBA and you're all set! 🙂

Cheers!

LOL @ sharkeeper. I don't think I can afford any more of these. Not only that, but it's near impossible for me to find them anywhere in stock! Even Newegg keeps pushing back their receiving dates. LOL OMG that thing even has dimmmemory modules installed in it?! Crazy, what the heck is it?! I definetially am new to RAID, LOL.

I have a pair of WD 18.2GB 10K rpm drives on an LSIU160 HBA. These things have a wierd sound signature inside a Lian Li PC60 case. They only have 2MB of cache. Still, they are SCSI and I love it.

😛

Where did you get it for that price? 36gb version? I'm interested in the 73 gb version. Storage review's review shows it has very good desktop performance and it's quieter than the Seagate Cheetah 15k.4!!! (Although the Maxtor Atlas 15k II has better server performance, which I have no use for it)

46.6 dba sounds like a lot but it's for the 4 plater version. The 1 or 2 plater version should be much quieter.
