Saw this at iDealWiz (credits to HawkEye, thanks for the scans)

Sale starts on 6/17

$29.99 - $20 Mail In Rebate

$9.99 Total after Rebates

I can't read the ad too clearly, but it looks like 80 minute cds to me. They also look just like my Taiyo Yuden FujiFilms from the picture.

Most Staples rebates have been taking 8-10 weeks for me, but I always get them. Some FUJI CDR deals, the rebate is actually through FUJI, and they take about 8 weeks. Be aware though that FUJI has a limit of 4 rebates per person per year (at least they used to ...).

The choice of CC or Staples is easy in this case - at Staples you have to fork over less money up front ($15) than at CC ($30), and you stand to lose less if you don't get your rebate ($5 vs. $20).

Can these be found at Staples.com? If so, where are they? I can't seem to find them anywhere. However, there does seem to be a nice deal on the PNY CD-R Spindle, 50/Pack. Has anyone had any experience with these?

I've used the PNY 80 minute stuff. It is the cheap media but I haven't had problems with it... The Fuji stuff is Taiyo Yuden (least the stuff I got from CompUSA last year was) and is premo. The only time I've had problems burning cheap media was when my Ricoh 6x4x24 CDRW drive started to act up (but a member here told me about the lack of grease on an internal shaft and once I put on the correct grease <some special teflon stuff from Radio Shack> the drive started working perfectly with everything). My current Sony 12x8x32 does just fine with cheap media too.

I even play all kinds of media (both cheap and premo) in my portable CD player (cheapo Panasonic)... So the only reason for me to get premo media is if it is cheap or if I want to archive something for a long time. Of course the other benefit is you'll likely have less problems (bad disks) with premo stuff.

Personally I get whatever is cheap. But I 200+ blank discs from the Outpost KHypermedia deal so I'm set for a long while.

I've never done Staples rebate, but did CC. They takes about 4 weeks. I think that's not too bad in waiting time.

Absolutely. I'm waiting on $230 worth of them right now. I may be waiting on more if I jump on this deal. These same cds are on "clearance" at my local Wal Mart for $25.

Don't buy from CC if you can get the same things from Staples. CC still owes me more than $100 rebate since February and their processing system is sux!!! I don't know whether a member said his CC rebate came after 4 weeks only is an extraordinary case. On CC rebate form it says, "Please allow 12 weeks for processing" or something like that. Staples, on the other hand, has a better rebate processing system with RebatesHQ.com. They will send you an email to let you know your rebate request has been received. They also issue a tracking # for your rebate with which you can check your rebate status on their website.

why can't we just have CC pricematch with Staples?

we'd get it for -$5:

pricematch w/Staples $15
CC mail in rebate -$20
----------------------------
net cost -$5

Hmmm...I might have to go pick some of those up at staples. Don't buy CompUSA branded CDRs... After a year, they start to get these blotches in the data area. It's not peeling or anything, but they look like little wet spots. I've lost 2 CDs so far with data on them. Anyone know the shelf life of these fujifilm CDRs?

<< Rebate requires Circuit City Receipt. No luck with pricematch without rebate. >>

Ah, but FunkmasterT is talking about pricematching TO circuit city. If Circuit City DOES pricematch, just bring in the advertisement from Staples ($15) to Circuit City and then do the MIR's to get the spindle AND a profit of $5.

Someone let us know if CC pricematches.

I don't think I have ever had problems burning any media (cheap or not) with any of the burners I have had (starting with my old 2x up to my current plextor 12x). The problem, though, is whether or not the CDs will hold up. I used to use Memorex CDs all the time (the were gold colored on the label side) and they seemed just fine in my CD Rom drive, home CD player, and in several car CD players I tried. When I went back to use some of these CDs after 6-8 months, many of them just did not work.

I, too, am currently using a large stock of those hypermedia 8 and 12x CDs without any problems yet, though it hasn't been all that long.

PRICE MATCH CC TO STAPLES....IF YOU ARE LUCKY

Circuit City has the same FUJI CDRs that Staples has...Well, CC's were 16x and STAPLES were 24x, but they both carried the same UPC code...another case of CC getting rid of yesterday's stock!!

Details:

UPC # 7410175475

Staples regular price is 19.98 SKU# 440470

If you can get YOUR Circuit City to price match STAPLES, CIRCUIT CITY has a $20 MIR on these bad boys.

CC price: 29.98
STAPLES PRICE 19.98

The wonderful Santa Barbara CIRCUIT CITY would not price match STAPLES for me, and of course CC rebates seem to take forever, so if you are so inclined, go get 'em!!!

PS: Circuit City has a selective "110% of the difference" guarantee which didn't include these CDRs.

YES CC's rebates are slow.
YES staples are better.
NEVER buy Vtech
NEVER send in rebates to EXPRESSGROUP COMPANY.
MAD I didn't get any of these at staples OR CC.

Hector13: You bring up a good point. Never buy Memorex CDRs. They are the worst of the worst due to the top layer flacking off. They have no selant/layer on top of the actual layer that gets burned so it is simple to scratch off a bit and the result is a ruined CD.

Both Staples and Target carry the Fujis at a regular price of ~$20.
PM at CC then $20. MIR = $0.00. Can't hardly beat free. $15. price at Staples ended last Sat. (16th) so you can't end up $5.00 ahead ;).
Disk packs at Staples have stickers over the 1-16x rating that say 1-24x. I suppose they're the same disks, just now that there are 20 and 24x drives out there, they've been able to qualify them at that speed. I've regularly burned several brands of 12x rated disks at 16x with no problems. The Fujis are fine disks at any mentioned price!
