bigjon,

I've only tried Ofoto and the ones they printed came out really nice. It pretty much matched the jpeg images. The photos would have turned out even better if I did more editing with Photoshop. The only problem I have with Ofoto is that the prints are shipped 5 days "after" I receive a shipping confirmation. Kind of strange since I live only 10 miles from where they are located, which is in Berkeley, CA. Still, not a big deal. I usually get my order within 7 business days.

What sort of touching up do you guys recommend? I've got photoshop 5.5 on my work PC to mess around with graphics. Any sites you guys recommend? Most pics come out excellent, but if there's a way to make them look even better, let me know! :) Thanks,

Has anyone who participated to first cycle received his or her camera? I haven't received a shipping notice yet.

Edit: Of course one should look at home before talking. I got mine. No battery recharger, only 4 alkaline batteries.

yup got mines today. though with just the batteries. no charger and such. heh.. the serial connection is awfully slow. so which is the best smart card reader and where to get it? and how much pictures can a 32mb card hold? at normal? fine?

Thanks

Trike,

32mb SmartMedia in a MX-1200 will hold:

496 pictures at 640x480/basic;
250 pictures (I think) at 640x480/normal -> this is "best" setting IMO
125 pictures (I think) at 640x480/fine

125 pictures (I think) at 1280x960/basic
80 pictures (I think) at 1280x960/normal
55 pictures (I think) at 1280x960/fine

I'm pretty sure about all the settings (640x480/basic=496 I'm sure of).

Ger,

Thanks! I'll have to try them out. My wife prefers organic photos over electronic photos - now maybe I can convince her electronic is best! :D

I got my digicam yesterday from the Staples Pricematch(around 177 total after pricematch and 40 off 100 coupon!), and it came with the batteries and "fast" recharger! Sometimes Staples actually is a good place to shop at! My only complaint is the slow ass serial port, but I ordered a sandisk imagemate reader from onvia for around 38 bucks with free shipping.

i got my camera from mobshop in 2 days!
ups pulled up and i was scratching my head
wondering what was being delivered.great camera,
took at least 50 pictures so far with the original
batteries and uploaded them to the computer with
no problems at all.normal and fine settings are
excellent with no need to touch up yet!
next purchase will be the 32mb or larger smart card.
then the rechargable batteries.

64mb cards came out after the product was shipping. I called Fuji to confirm, so yah it takes 64mb cards. prolly will take 128mb cards if/when they ever come out, but damn that would be a lot of pictures. i'm still hunting for good deals on 64/32 mb cards... 32 for my mx-1200 and 64 for my rio 500. hope that helps,

Does anyone know if one could use an old battery charged designed for Ni-Cd batteries to charge Ni-Mh?

received the leather case yesterday from onvia. fits like a glove, highly recommend it. now i don't have to feel paranoid about taking my camera out and having it get scratched up.

this pictures i have been taking rock. an awesome entry level camera. I plan to have shutterfly.com or some place develop a few to see how they turn out.

I noticed that at http://www.pczone.com they have a "Lexmark 5770 Photo Jetprinter Refurb" printer for $140.00
Lexmark has a rebate on this printer for $100.00
I assume you can use the lexmark rebate and get the printer for $40 plus shipping, but I am not sure. By looking at the specs, it appears the printer can directly take a smartcard(such as the fuji mx1200) uses, and print pictures directly from the card itself without a computer! I have never used this printer, nor known anyone who has, so I have no idea about how it works, but it looks like a good deal if it's only $40!
