Here's my first post in over a year (long story). Fuji Finepix 3800 Digital camera with 6x optical zoom, 3.2x digital zoom, 16 mb xD card, through-the-lens (TTL) viewfinder and LCD screen, 3.2 megapixels, etc. Click Here For Full Description from Fujifilm.com

First go to www.techbargains.com and on the left click on "FIND LOWEST PRICE" then enter finepix 3800 on the search box. Pick the 2nd link that's found and enter your zip code. Click on the"BOTTOM LINE PRICE" header to see which is the lowest. For me, staples would price match with www.ibuydigital.com since they're an authorized fuji dealer. The other lower prices they would not since they're not authorized. After waiting on the phone for 15 minutes, they said they would price match me the camera for $362.90 since they added in the overnight shipping charges from that store. Used $30 off $150 coupon and so came out $357.04 after taxes (Northern CA).

Ok ok, this might not be the best camera, but for those of you who were looking for this specific one, it beats paying $450 retail price. Also beats ordering it for real cheap on those online stores and getting a gray market item or really big hassles.

What the heck is an xD-Picture Card? Are they using proprietary memory on this one?

Yeah..supposedly it's a new memory card developed by Fuji and Olympus. It's supposed to have less battery consumption and faster writes. I've read some articles where you can purchase an adapter so that the xD picture card can be used with compact flash readers. The price of the xD cards are going to be similar to the compact flash cards...

Thanks for bringing up the xD card up. I totally forgot to mention that it's a new type of media. Basically, this post is for a person who already knows what he/she wants or doesn't have a digital camera yet (like me), so it really doesn't matter the type of media...

Umm, I recently purchased an Olympus C-720 from returnbuy.com for around $300 or so shipped. It's got about the same specs(8x optical, and 3 MP for the 720), but it uses smartmedia cards and AA batteries. Returnbuy sells refurbished stuff, but the camera I recieved was in perfect shape. Here is the returnbuy link..

Umm...thanks. But I guess you could figure that if the person wanted an Olympus, they would look for the thread titled "Olympus Camera XXXX for $xxx.xx at so and so store" and would ignore a thread with a title "Fuji..." But thanks for the heads up.

Here's an FAQ on the new xD format. It does have advantages over SM but they're not that big of a deal right now, in the future though the xD format will be better because it's faster and can hold a lot more than SM.

BTW, if the Staples rep won't match iBuyDigital.com, Amazon has this camera for $379.95 and Staples definitely will pricematch Amazon.

I never can get a Staples CSR to use a coupon with a PM, though. :(

Doesn't the price match have to include the overnight shipping cost for Amazon (I've noticed that Amazon doesn't have an overnight shipping option, at least on the camera). That would definitely increase the cost of the camera and the price match won't be that great. If you go to those cheapy sites from the first post, it'll probably get you a better price match if they let you price match a store.

I guess I got lucky using the $30 off $150. It pays to be nice to the CSR ;)
