fuji finepix 2300 2.11 megapixel for $160 after coupon at Staples

Just got a staples email and the Fuji Finepix 2300 is on sale for $199.90. Add something to get you over $200 and use a $40 off $200 coupon (can be found at f*twallet) to get it for $160 shipped free. List for this is $279.98, sku 459451. 2.11 megapixel, 3X digital zoom, but no optical zoom. The reviews I've read say it is a good entry level camera.

BTW why is fatw*llet a forbidden word?

Fuji makes great cameras. I started off with the Finepix 1300 but I've moved on to an Olympus with optical zoom.

<< you woulda totally made my day had you said this was the Fuji 2600...... thanks for the deal tho >>

Mine too.

Mine three.

Same here. No matter how cheap it is, the lack of optical zoom is a HUGE negative, outweighing the low price.

how might this compare to the canon a10 which is only 1.3 mp but has optical zoom? the picture quality seems to be pretty good. The final price would be the same ($160).

Here's a side by side comparison of the Canon vs Fuji digicams.

I got this camera from Staples a year ago for the same price, form a deal here on the forum !! what an amazing camera !! the pictures are top notch quality, just make sure you use manual opening to get more light into the camera, the automatic setting might give you dark pictures unless it's a bright sunny california day, the pictures with a flash are great, but only within 2 meters .. more than that it does not work very well, pitctures will be too dark, it has many settings and can take pictures at 1200x1600. There is no zoom but it's a little sactrifice you make to get a camera at that price. oh ya .. my deal was even better, they were giving out a free 32MB card for free with it.

What do you think of the Finpix 1300? I'm about to buy one tomarrow.

The 1300 is a decent pocket camera, but I hated the exclusion of a lens cover (the lens is very easy to scratch), the fact that it has no external flash controls is a pain (you have to go through a menu on the LCD everytime you want to activate red eye reduction or cut the flash), and I found that my nose was smashed against the LCD everytime I looked through the viewfinder.

Other than that, it takes decent pics, and the fact that it's tiny makes it convienient to carry around in your pocket/purse/diaper bag/glove compartment/whatever. Battery life was fair (about 200 pics off a set of batteries...less if you use the LCD). If you can score one for $100-$130, it might be worth it. I just sold the one I got for free from Staples during the Windows XP extraviganza for $140 on Ebay a month or two back.

Good review, I totally agree about everything you said since I also had some experience with it! Overall, a very good camera for this price.

<< jaydee - If you can find it, get the Fuji Finepix 1400. One of THE BEST entry level digicams around. >>

Thanks, I'll look for it but I'm hoping to not spend much (if anything) over $100 shipped.
