I just have to chime in here to agree with those that say TY's are the best. I've seen it said that the gold Kodak's are better, and until recently I had no reason to disagree. Then I got into making VCDs, and for whatever reason I can't burn a VCD on my Kodaks... it always fails with a bunch of errors regardless of how much I slow down the burn speed (with burn-proof enabled on a 40x12x40 Plextor). The first suggestion in the error box is to try a different brand of media, so after making 3 or 4 gold coasters I went to my old 12x Fuji/TY's. They burn flawlessly at 40x. My guess is that not a thing has changed in these CDRs between the 12x's and the 40x's, but that they're so good they're simply able to keep being certified at higher and higher speeds. Hence the 40x sticker over the 24x.
I'm sold on TY's, for me there'll be no other from now on. I picked up one of these spindles at BB yesterday, no 40x sticker over the 24x, but for $2.99 AR I would've gotten them even if they were the 16x that were advertised. And BTW, even though they're the 24x's, the rebate receipt automatically printed and says, "50PK 16X CDR SPINDLE."
