Just got back from the Northgate Best Buy here in Seattle. They had these, but it seemed like they didn't have too many. Maybe they were just located in different parts of the store.

Anyway, the rebate is one per household/address. The CDR package has a sticker taped over the 24x speed rating to update them to 40x rating.

Oh, and the best part? Nero reports the discs as Tayo Yudens. Even without the rebate, for $13 a spindle, I stocked up :)

Thanks.
I am too lazy to go to store, so I just bought it online because they have free shipping.
Um... One per household.... $13 is still a good price though.

I tried that too but then they wanted a shipping charge of $0.99 and some order charge of $3?

Did you choose "Ground" shipping, or did you pick other shipping options like 2nd day? Only Ground shipping is free.

How does Nero report the disc type? I thought that was CD Identifier only...

On Nero, while holding down the shift key, click on Recorder > Medium-Info. You'll see manufacturer info on the upper right corner.

Info is not as detailed as cdr-id (eg. no dye info).

Just wondering but the rebate form says:

OFFER DATE: 07/07/2002 TO 07/13/2002

Does that mean this rebate is only valid if bought on those dates? What about if we buy today??

Just curious.. ALL FujiFilm CDR are TaiyoYuden made?
or Could it be just some with 'black tops' like TDK CDR.

All the Fuji's I have seen are TY, but I have heard some are of Taiwanese origin also. Look for the ones with black or ivory opaque circular knob on the top of the clear cover and "Made in Japan" on the label.

Man I'm on a CD-R media buying frenzy. I just picked up the 100pack Memorex (Taiyo Yuden) at OM for 9.99 AR. Will be going to BB tomorrow to get several of these. Love TY's!! Absolutely love them.

BTW... is the greenblue color on the bottom of the CD idicative of TY media? Do any of the bad companies (CMC) use that color?

thanks!

I've seen CMC Magnetics with a similar color. I believe they were old KHypermedia's.

Yes, I did. When I changed it to one of those it was even more than the 99 cents. Anyways, it worked fine now. :)

I just have to chime in here to agree with those that say TY's are the best. I've seen it said that the gold Kodak's are better, and until recently I had no reason to disagree. Then I got into making VCDs, and for whatever reason I can't burn a VCD on my Kodaks... it always fails with a bunch of errors regardless of how much I slow down the burn speed (with burn-proof enabled on a 40x12x40 Plextor). The first suggestion in the error box is to try a different brand of media, so after making 3 or 4 gold coasters I went to my old 12x Fuji/TY's. They burn flawlessly at 40x. My guess is that not a thing has changed in these CDRs between the 12x's and the 40x's, but that they're so good they're simply able to keep being certified at higher and higher speeds. Hence the 40x sticker over the 24x.

I'm sold on TY's, for me there'll be no other from now on. I picked up one of these spindles at BB yesterday, no 40x sticker over the 24x, but for $2.99 AR I would've gotten them even if they were the 16x that were advertised. And BTW, even though they're the 24x's, the rebate receipt automatically printed and says, "50PK 16X CDR SPINDLE."
