Fuel pump off ebay

So I need a fuel pump for a 97 Sidekick and one is on ebay for $16 shipped new. Autoparts store its $135. Is the pump at the autoparts store $100+ better?

I like local stores because:
1. unless it's a specialty part or rare car, no waiting. Good if you dont have a spare car to drive.

2. Usually much easier to deal with on warranty issues.

recently i had a battery go bad on me that I had bought at advance auto parts almost 3 yeas ago. got a free replacement because it was within the 3 year limit. all i had to do was just bring it in and let them try to charge it and since it failed testing after charging I got a new one and I didn't even have to show the recept since I had bought it at that store.

Now, for my Triumph, just try to get a stock distributor cap and rotor at a local store. unless you have a store locally that specializes in that make, it ain't gonna happen.

I have bought off eBay before. As long as the person has good feedback and its new part then I would be ok.

I also install my own parts so if it went bad its not as big a deal.
 
My guess is, the $100 premium at the parts store is because you're getting new or refurbished (versus what's likely a used pull), as well as a warranty. The one on ebay might last you a month, might last you 100 months. :hmm:
