Fuel Injectors Cleaning Service

I have a manual 2003 Hyundai Tiburon with 45K miles on it. Called a Hyundai dealer to perform the 45,000 mile service on it, and they said that the fuel injectors cleaning should be $120. I found an online coupon for $90. Still wondering if I'm overpaying? And if this service is worth the 90 bucks.

How many fuel injectors are there in a car anyway?

BTW, does anybody know what does battery service include?
 
Not being mean, but the sheer fact that you asked "How many fuel injectors are in a car anyway?" labels you as "Prime sheep for fleecing."

Just walk into the dealership and go "BAAAAAAAA."

The battery service includes servicing the flux capacitor and adjusting the jake brake.

ANYWAY:

Your ENGINE (not "the car") has one fuel injector per cylinder. If you have a 4 cylinder engine, you have 4 fuel injectors. If you are not having any problems, you don't need the injectors cleaned.

"Battery service" is a fancy term for "Make sure it's still connected and not leaking."

The "fuel injector service" probably consists of putting a $3 bottle of cleaner in the gas tank. The "battery service" is probably just checking the cables to see if they're tight.

There is a cleaner machine that hooks up to the fuel rail and the car runs for like 10
min. on it while the cleaner cleans the injectors. I cant see this as a needed service@
45K miles though, this is a procedure that is done when the injectors are REALLY bad..
 
MichaelD, no offense taken. I know that I know nothing about cars. That's why I'm asking on here.

Heisenburg, actually, the fuel injectors cleaning is "off-site," which involves removing the injectors. http://www.aa1car.com/library/2003/ic30336.htm
They also clean the throttle body, whatever that means. I just realized that that article says that usually the cost is $25-$35 per injector being cleaned. Since, I have V6 engine, that comes out to be $15 per cylinger. Not too bad.

If anybody has ever had the fuel injectors cleaned, please let me know.
 
If they remove the injectors and have them done properly, (instead of just running some "Techrom" thru the system) then that's a good price. Is it needed? IMO, NO. Not at 45K...now if that was 145K, then MAYBE.

Well that's fine, but I seriously doubt you need that done at 45k miles. It won't hurt anything, but you're wasting your money IMHO.
 
My car has had some symptoms of deposits: when I start up the car on a cold morning, the car jerks a bit initially as if its not getting any fuel. But maybe all I need is BG 44k. I think I'll try that and if the symptoms still continue, then I'll get the service from the dealership.
 
Okay, quick question on how to use BG44k now. Do I just empty the can in my fuel tank before the next fill-up and then just drive around normally?

hahahaha bring vaseline, because you're about to get rammed.

A bottle of fuel injection cleaner costs ~5 bucks. Combine that with a new fuel filter and you're set for another 50K.
