No. Because Microsoft disallows multi socket systems in all versions of Windows Vista and 7. Even ultimate and enterprise. And don't even try forcing it. It's hard coded into the OS to only recognize one cpu socket.

So if you want 16 BD cores get a windows server 2008 license.

or run some Linux/*BSD distribution and pay $0 for your OS. There's a reason that supercomputers don't run Windows.

I thought the limit was two physical CPUs for Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise.

I know it supports at least 2.

As for supercomputers, the reason Windows isn't used...is simply because Windows is a consumer and business OS. It isn't meant for supercomputers. The idea that an OS for consumers should also be designed to support supercomputers is plain silly.

If I'm AMD and has a 4850-esque BD chip that 90% good as a 2500K for the price of $150-165 I will be previewing the crap out it. The only reason why AMD didn't because they know it's going to disappoint.

Why do I keep reading this response? AMD hasn't previewed the crap out of anything for years. They prefer to keep everything under tight raps until they are ready to release it. The reasons are obvious. They are worried that the information will help the competition. I don't know whether Bulldozer will be good or not, but AMD being tight lipped doesn't mean it sucks.

Wow what a douche! He's closed in for sure. I see him peeking out his black out curtains while wearing an aluminium foil cap.

I'd much rather watch this chic:

Argh, she's plenty annoying her own right. Video Edits every 2 seconds in the middle of sentences. Sounds like she's reading something her computer geek friend gave her.

I'll take an ugly dude (not the guy posted here) over a dumb chick anyday when it comes to tech gear.

Well that guy who posted that has responded to some questions. He claims he is a reviewer, and that it is a retail 8150 with the stock cooler.

Damn, that is no bueno. Oh well, we'll find out soon enough.

That can't be true. There's no way AMD has screwed that hard. I am expecting the 8150 to be faster than the 2600K but I could settle for somewhat less. Somewhat. Not this crap.

I declare one week of PC absistance if Bulldozer sucks that bad and I am not going to sell my Phenom II as I am planning. I am going to burn it and make a Youtube video out of it.

:D

Nuh I don't care, I'm going to buy whoever is best anyway.

When AMD stuff didn't sucked, we had these:

4850: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2553

Athlon XP: http://firingsquad.com/hardware/athlonxp/page12.asp

A64: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/athlon64.html

A64 X2:http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2005/05/09/amd_a64x2_4800/1

When AMD knew Phenom sucked we had a nice article Anand on how AMD tried to "persuade" him from making an unbiased, independent testing.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

Not completely certain, but he seems to be just a bit upset with AMD and Bulldozer ... or am I reading him incorrectly??

More importantly, is he trying to make a "statement" with half of his face shaved and a muskrat stuck to the money shot side.

Truly, some scary stuff.

They had to do 30 takes to shoot 1 min of that video because that chick could only hold 1 sentence of information in the brain at 1 time.

That guy was so "funny": 34% slower on average/median (confusing 2 different state metrics) on benchmarks? Which benchmarks show that?

Pretty sad that this thread has deteriorated into a discussion of competing YouTube video reviews by a guy whose every other word is the F Bomb and a gal that has more edits of her video than Joan Rivers/Bruce Jenner has had facelifts! PLEASE, for the love of God (sorry Billy Madison) release the Bulldozer!

If it was that simple you wouldn't have a job :D

Snap! :)

FWIW, I have an AM3+ board that I really hope to put a BD in. Mostly out of emotional attachment to AMD versus performance reasons? Yep.

Plus, $120 goes a lot further on AMD motherboards than it does on Intel boards, I was able to get a 95W 945 x4 for $80 and spend the difference on a decent SSD... so... I'd rather get higher quality components than pursue absolute performance for the $$$... in my wife's computer ;)

How long have you been a member here? You should know better than to believe faked, doctored up BS benchmarks. I'd expect that from a newbie. Not from you.

Hmmn, let's see, go off the BS links you believe in, or, perhaps this one? From an actual AMD event with B2F\G stepping and REAL benchmarks, not just the world record\gaming FPS one?

Also note he doesn't just say "multimedia" machine.

He says GAMING machine.

Windows 7 Pro and up supports 2 or more sockets, and every version of Windows 7 supports multi-core processors.
