I'd like to see some of you crack a few jokes about the soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq around their parents. Yeah, yeah I know what you're gonna reply next, "slavery happened a long time ago, no one from back then is still alive", "don't be so sensitive". Well my response to those kind of comments are fvck you, I don't find it humorous when people make jokes about others who were physically abused, raped, murdered and treated like sub-humans. Moshquerade you're a gem in my book, not just because you're taking a stance in this post but because I've noticed you always try to be reasonable when some of these threads degenerate into something less than acceptable.

EDIT:

In retrospect I realize some of you may not intend on being malicious, but you gotta realize that you can't joke about everything. One of these days you could crack a joke around the wrong person and it could cost you a job/career, a friendship or even your life. And it's not like I don't appreciate humour or freak out over every little thing, hell I listen to Stern almost everyday but...

ahh fvck it what's the use, it's not like anyone listens to what others have to say these days anyway

It just kills the whole idea of the board. You would think intelligent people would be here not just a bunch of counter strike punks who live on a farm and have only known sex with farm animals.

Good try. We know what FUBAR is. We even know what foo, bar, and foobar are too. And we certainly know what FUBU is. Please don't try to link them. They are unrelated. You are working too hard AlienCraft.

Actually I have heard the same thing when I was in college.

kinda harsh, but i cant say i disagree. if you take a offense to a mom joke, you are just a moron. i cant stand people who want to throw down because someone cracked a mom joke or something equally as trivial. i know im going to get flamed for this, but think about what im about to say before you react.

most black people who make their way on popular TV really piss me off. they are making themselves look bad and are basically perpetuating the racist attitude. if they would drop the "thug" look and speak english, it would do wonders for their image and i bet most of this hate and racism would go away. im not trying to repress their culture, because real black culture is perfectly fine, but the 50 cent look is immature and annoying.

ill be honest - i dont want to have the thought cross my mind that a thugged out looking black guy walking by me has the potential to mug me, but that is what the image portrays so i cant help but think it. i fully realize a white guy in a suit could mug me just as easily, but that rarely happens so it isnt instinctive. make sense? i dont think black people are subhuman, so all you PC morons dont even try that, but how you dress and express yourself says a lot about your attitude, and FUBU or anything like it speaks volumes about the people who wear it. i would never wear a shirt that was similar in meaning for white people. its not like anyone would be allowed to make that, though.

usually the jokes on the chappelle show are about how white people cant dance, or how white people talk. It also talks about black people. Slavery like 9/11 and the Holocaust are not joking matters on the other hand. Its unfortunate that someone with your "backround" cant distinguish that.

I believe that racism is alive and well on both sides of the fence. No one is immune from it. Racism, and social prejudices come from ignorance plain and simple. And I'm reading alot of that here on this thread. I do so get tired of all the political correctness crap here in this country though. Geesh people, you see more racial jokes on Cable that are more cutting than what was posted in this thread.

Thats not true, I watch him all the time, and he has this one act where he dresses up like this black man (The Character is Tyrone in Tyrone goes to School) who is a crack addict talking before a bunch of school kids. He has coke powder all over his face... He makes jokes about his character and how he defecates on the city streets, and is always looking for a fix... DO YOU WATCH THIS SHOW????

you're a jerk

While I don't have exact numbers I'd be willing to bet the number of Union soldiers who died durring the Civil War fighting for your freedom is greater than the number of slaves who died as a dirrect result of slavery. I'd say we're even.

And yes, I'm aware that the Civil War, despite popular spin, wasn't really about slavery but since you post was completely lacking in common sense I figured I might as well respond in kind.

Knee-jerk reactionism FTW!

The misconception is that the Civil War wasn't about slavery. Revisionism FTL!

Your post makes no sense.Tyrone is not even making fun of black people its making fun of crackheads in general and if it was making fun of black people well that still backs my statement.

Whats the clayton skit got to do with anything. It doesnt make fun of black people as much as it does white people. If you guys wanted to come up with a skit abotu slavery you would use the ROOTs skit where he is being whipped. Even that I guess its ok for a black person to make fun of a movie about slavery. He wasnt directly making fun of slavery just the movie. Even if he was making fun of slavery than well daves black.

And I'm reading alot of that here on this thread. I do so get tired of all the political correctness crap here in this country though. Geesh people, you see more racial jokes on Cable that are more cutting than what was posted in this thread.

Basically. ;)

Everyone is a little bit racist. It is about elevating the way people perceive each other. Of course there are differences in races, they should be recognized but not used as a basis for disassociation (like FUBU does) or for racial hatred.

Racial Jokes, as long as not in a hurtful context can be very funny. Even if they point out generalization or stereotypes. Laughter and satire are great ways of making things like racial hatred and disassociation comical instead of heated.

But I do agree with some of the people here though that a lot of ATOTers tend to be very biased and speak out of cruelty because of anonimity and not out of being funny.

**EDIT**
My point is
JOKE:
How does every racial joke begin?
.
.
.
With a look over your shoulder.

I am sure these same people that are so bold on ATOT are timid in RL.

usually the jokes on the chappelle show are about how white people cant dance, or how white people talk. It also talks about black people. Slavery like 9/11 and the Holocaust are not joking matters on the other hand. Its unfortunate that someone with your "backround" cant distinguish that.

Your post makes no sense.Tyrone is not even making fun of black people its making fun of crackheads in general and if it was making fun of black people well that still backs my statement.

Whats the clayton skit got to do with anything. It doesnt make fun of black people as much as it does white people. If you guys wanted to come up with a skit abotu slavery you would use the ROOTs skit where he is being whipped. Even that I guess its ok for a black person to make fun of a movie about slavery. He wasnt directly making fun of slavery just the movie. Even if he was making fun of slavery than well daves black.

What are eyou talking about? Chappelle makes fun of black people as much as whites, if not more.

Thats what I stated in my original comment. Reading the forum sometimes proves usefull

I forget what comedian said that he preferred FUBAK, For Us By Asian Kids, someone on SNL, IIRC.
