Time Warner Cable is dishonest. I had my cable installed and the tech purposely went to each room to "check things." He actually disconnected the cable from the wall outlets so that we could not get local channels without paying him for additional cable boxes.

As soon as something else is available I will cancel my TWC service.

At my old house, TW ripped out and cut off all the pre-existing wiring that the landlord took so much time to layout. The paint chipping off everywhere along the rooms and being unable to move the box or modem for my convenience. How about you stay the fuck away from rooms you had no permission to enter and just do you job in that room where I wanted the box? The next time I deal with these companies, I'm recording everything and I'm going to bitch at everything. Sloppy job, unnecessarily messy and negligent at keeping up the appearance of my home. At least bring a mini-vac and clean the shit up because someone having a seizure would've done a cleaner job.

So TWC pays people (or contractors) to scour search engines for negative posts about their company...? OK.

Other than google alerts, many major companies actually do have a dedicated set of people that actually scour the interwebs for stuff like this.

either that or one of the AT members here works for said company.

I hate to seem like im defending TW, but I can honestly say that our fiber connection from them has been pretty rock solid and our offsites that use coax internet connections have been great as well. This is party because we have a fantastic local tech that really goes the extra mile to keep us going, but I can't honestly say i have any complaints. Great service at home as well.

Their hold times for support are unacceptable though. I guess at least they speak english as a native language so thats a plus

I was happy with my TWC roadrunner installer when I got service hooked up. He actually cared about his job and the customer.

I'm not too happy about the rate increase without warning. Going from $35 to $45 a month after the 12 month promotional is one thing as that is expected. Going up to $54 a month without any explanation and a "oh oops we were supposed to say something" is another. That and also my internet has become inconsistent as of late, though it always "tests" fine.

Don't feel bad, rpanic. I can't remember which gasoline credit card it was, that my Dad had, but when Dad died, my brother called to close all his accounts (and make certain nothing was owed)......and one of the customer service reps, after closing my recently deceased father's account, then had the audacity to ask my brother if he would like to apply for an account with them, while they had him on the phone! TWC has a dept called Client Relations, in the NYC area, it consists of 8-10 people who spend there day searching forums, twitter and other sites that match "hate twc" or "die twc" for example and attempt to remedy the situation by apologizing for the something they didn't do and usually offer credit or some other freebee to shut you up.

Not trying to defend TWC, but I had inconsistent internet for a while as well until I replaced the main splitter (~$5 at Home Depot) outside. One other thing that has helped is to remove the cover to the modem. Those damn Ambit modems are notorious for overheating.

haha, yeah. I'd forgotten about that.

Wasn't there also some guy who owned a custom PC building company who came here to post in response to complaints and ended up acting like a 12 year old and cussed everyone out? Maybe that was another forum and it just got linked here.

There was a K&N shill that tried to convince people that their filters weren't lousy. He got torn apart.
