And when someone makes a typo in an instant messenger conversation, to correct themselves they'll do something stupid like

OMG I'm gonna pee myeslf!
myself***

WTF is that supposed to mean?
Whatever happened to:
Oh sh**, I meant "myself"
or at the very least:
errr, "myself"

I still <3 you

I don't even bothering correcting it if I'm talking to my friends (unless it was really fvcked up).

I agree with you a little. but when someone uses /rant off i think "this person is an idiot"

Haha yeah... "/rant" would be overused but ehh ok I guess. But "/rant off"? It's not like they mean to use an IRC command!

I think all <xxx> and </xxx> based things such as this should be limited to people with at least the most basic understanding of html!

who the hell came up with For the win???
Yeah, it really threw me off for a while when people started using it as 'for the win.'

I have put up with silly internet acronyms over the years, but FTW is just too stupid. Every time I see someone use it I think "This person is an idiot."

I refuse to use it. It makes no sense at all. People use it over and over (mostly internet noobs who want to "fit in") in the most retarded contexts that make no sense.

/rant off.

I feel the same way about the word, "noob."

I refuse to use it. I'm not worthy at all. People use it over and over (mostly internet 1337 who want to "pwn") in the most brilliant contexts that make perfect sense.

/rant off.

Fixed... FTW!

What's worse is people who say for the win in real life. I learned about FTW that way because I go to a nerd college. This guy was telling me he runs Oblivion on high settings with his 7800GT and I asked how, he replied "mods for the win". He might have said "lawl" after that, I don't remember. After he said "for the win" a few times I asked him why he says that and he explained it to me. Were I playing Halo online as much as I did like 3 years ago I definitely would have known about this. Man, come to think of it I think I started one of these pieces of internet slang back then. I don't remember what it was, but I remember saying it in Halo for awhile and then sometime later someone who I never played Halo with said it to me (I don't think it was in Halo either). Anyway...FTW is dorky, just like most other pieces of Internet slang, but I don't even care anymore.

EDIT: The sad thing is that since I don't keep up with it all anymore, and some of these acronyms are hard to decipher so I have to Google them to find out what they stand for. Whether it's sad for me or sad for the Internet I don't know, but it is definitely sad.

I think you'd be more bothered by something like:

O rly?
Ya rly.
No wai!

Much worse to constantly hear that than "FTW" which I've always heard expressed in theorycrafting arguments. Kind of like how someone goes "Well, I'd prefer using such-and-such" and someone may say "Nah, this-and-that FTW"

EDIT: Fixed
