I can never get this wretched thing working correctly... here is the sitch this time:

I am running the server with 2 harddrives, C:\ and D:\, D is all mp3 and C:\ contains the upload folder and the PUB folder. I'm running Servu 2.5, and I have the three above mentioned folders shared. However, when connected, the user can only see the folders in the home directory to which they are connected, IE D:\mp3 can't see c:\pub. I can't figure out why. I had this working on one of the accounts, but nothing was different. It's not set to show path relative to home directory. Any ideas? Some of you gurus must be familiar with FTP serving. I just want to make those 3 directories viewable to all users loged on, over the 2 hd's. Thanks!

You can put "windows shortcuts" or links in the home directory. Theres another way..I forgot. RTDM (read the damn manuals) from the Serv-U site. Thats how I learned...

tried the windows shortcuts, that didn't work. When you just type in C:\upload for example (when your home is D) then it gives you a 550 (not accesible) even though C:\upload is shared. Servu's online assistance was of no assistance. Anyone?

i had similar probs.

could never get to a folder/directory excpet for the home. links never worked.

i had to make separate user log-ins, or put all the files in the home directory.

if u figure out how to make links or multiple directories work, lemme know.

do u have the latest version of serv-u? K, i think.

did you guys remember to add your linked directories to the File/Dir Access Rules? I have mine setup with links and it works great. I'll try to help more.

Oh, I didn't know you had to add the access rules for each individual link. Duh!

It works now!

I wanted to make a *single* log-in for all my MP3s (~2500) .. spread out in ~20 diff directories, on several diff hard drives. You don't know how many diff FTP server apps I played with to do that.

Thx.

Yea..make sure you have the 32bit version of ServU. The 16bit version doesn't support windows shortcut "links". Just make the shortcut, add it to the access rules, and it should work.

Click on 'Users' button.

After u set up the account (and put the links in the 'Home' directory) , you have to click the 'Add' button at the very bottom and navigate to every (linked) directory in 'Home' directory. Works like magic.

I also put checkmarks in 'Write' & 'Make' (for every directory).

I'm using v2.5K

FTP Serv-U is now at v3.0, sold to a new company. See here Anyone tried it?

Hmmm...by links to you mean like shortcuts? When I go to add them to the access rules, it doesn't show them. And it is the 32-bit version.

No, in access rules, you add the real directory.

In other words, if you put a shortcut to the folder G:\mp3_opera in the folder J:\mp3_ftp_home, you add & set access rules for G:\mp3_opera by navigating to it & adding it.
