I want to put up a ftp server to share files with my cousin. What is the easiest way to do this? I have used cute ftp in the past but never set up a sever. Also, I have @home. They do not allow servers. What are the chances of @home finding this one. I do not want to open it up to the world. I just want to send pictures and other files to one person. Programs like ICQ transfer slow because it goes through another server. I also do not want all my files going through someone else. It is nothing illegal that we are sending back and forth. It is mainly family movies and stuff like that. I just do not want someone else seeing my business. thanks for your time!

@home will find out but if its private dont worry, i was running a FTP on port 21 for 2 years, pushing well over 1GB a day out of it, they e-mailed me and i told them to fuk off, it says you cant runa public FTP, says nothing about private, mine was private, no anonymous access(that they knew of, they never thought to look at my webserver, all the mp3's from my webpage were served with my FTP just using a user/password) Funny how they didnt notice my webserver, DNS server, SQL server, Mailserver, but they noticed the FTP lol.

Called @home about email attachments that were getting sent back, saying 'too big'. They advised me to set up FTP server for such (personal) x-fers. No, they don't want u setting up public FTP server, but personal use is okay.

I use FTP Serv-U. Pretty easy to get up & running. They're a couple tricks I had to learn, but nothing that we can't get u thru.

I only fire up the FTP when I'm actualy gonna x-fer .. not 24/7.

If W2K is better, I would like to know how to use - I have W2K, most do.

Can somebody post short 'how-to'?
