FTP recommendations

Can anyone recommend a decent, free program, or better yet, a tutorial as to how I can setup an FTP for my friends and family to download some large AVI files of my new kid?

I have a router, so I know that there is some port forwarding to be done. I just wanna give out my IP and tell people DL away.

Thanks in advance!

Also read up on how to configure your router and server to deal with NAT. It isn't just a simple matter of forwarding ports.

I'm a fan of Filezilla, client and server: Both support traditional un-secure FTP modes as well as SFTP and other encrypted/tunneled modes.

Both also support multi-threaded transfers, so if you're doing more than one (even a complete directory), it can run several at once, up to the capacity of the pipe.
