why is it that when i use certain ftp programs, i will get errors on the pages that i upload? these will be javascript errors. then i will upload with a different client and all works ok? why is this? if i can connect via port and also pasv, does that matter?

thanks...

You must ensure that you are transfering the file as ASCII format and NOT binary...they'll be a setting somewhere.

The auto mode works by looking at a list of file types which are ASCII, everything else is treated as binary. Check that the extension of the file you are trying to transfer is in this list. If it is not you can either transfer the file manually as ASCII or simply add the relevant file types to that list.

Its not a problem you just need to configure the application correctly. I wouldn't recommend buying an FTP app..I use Filezilla everyday and its fantastic.

the problems are just plain old html files with embedded javascript. in both ftp voyage and filezilla, html is listed in the list....
