i thought it was the other way around? i used to have smartFTP then switched to flashFXP with OS reinstall, just cuz it was recommened by the folks over at the software forums. If memory serves me right, their reason for recommendation was smartFTP nags you to register.... not that it really matters to me, i get to use it like once in 3 months or so 😛
 
i use cuteftp for client and titan ftp for server
both are nice

for the most part commandline is the fastest for some quick file transfers
