i have a user who cannot connect to our ftp site (windows 2000

ping ftp site gives back a destination not reachable
if she uses ftp.exe, she can log in fine, but when she does a "dir" she gets a "connection closed by remote host". she can ftp to the microsoft site without any problems (and do a cd, dir, etc). we tried using ws_ftp but the mouse stood at an hour glass after hitting connect (tried disablin pasv mode too)

we had other ppl ping/ftp our ftp site from the outside and it works fine for them

is there anything else i can do to troubleshoot this issue? not sure if she is running a firewall that would block ftp.. but if it did, why did ftp.microsoft.com work?

if any one has any ideas, i would appreciate it.. thanks!!!!

Is the user internal or external to the network the FTP site is on?

has she tried on another machine where she's at? may just be the network she's on all together and you may have no say if she can connect or not. they may have a butthole firewall admin.

has she tried connecting through explorer? like ftp://user: Password@site.com:21

probably won't lead to anything, but you never know.

another thing is to ask her if she can download and install flashfxp. just have her do a quick connect and then put the info in and click the advance toggle tab, check the bypass proxy server for this connection & site uses IP Masq/NAT/Non-Routable IP. that sometimes helps me connect to sites that won't normally let me on, even disabling pasv.
