FTL: What does it mean?

Depends on the context in which it's being used. If you're playing WoW and somebody says it, then it's probably "For the loss." If you're watching Battlestar Galactica and somebody says it then it means "Faster than Light." If you're doing laundry . . .well you get it. . .

You're spot on with this. It just flows better when it doesn't make sense. "For the lose"
