it does; under the general tab, top right, you have 4 empty slots, these are your cargo hold. put in it whatever weapons you want.
under ship tab, you should have a general-> augmentations tab to upgrade those.

v25 is the same i have. the only thing you cannot update are the systems (hack, cloak, drone control ..).

just did 4 boss lasers with artillery beam ship A. (1 weapon slot, 3 shots, 20 sec) -> 12shots/20sec
then did 4 dual lasers with artillery beam ship B. (1 weapon slot, 2 shots, 10sec) -> 16shots/20sec

will do 4 developer lasers with artillery flak ship C. (1 weapon slot, 1 shot, 3 dmg, shield passthru, 9 sec) -> not available anywhere during regular game play

it's ok, i too did the same. i was frustrated with ftl and i decided i would cheat the hell out of it. it took that to teach me how to play, and now i can play medium without problems (it's still not a guaranteed win, but it's a good challenge).

hard is still ret-hard-ed.
 
wow.. the developer laser is super duper OVERPOWERED.
beat all the bosses on Hard w/o losing any hull.

omg.. the artillery flak built into the Federation type C ship SUCKS.
same # power slots required and same 7 shots as the Flak II, but the load time is Double. 40sec vs 20sec 🙁

going to build an artillery beam ship using artillery beam type B.
so that'll be 5 artillery beams 😱

i think you might have that mistaken; the 4-power artillery on the federation C is 50/40/30/20 time and 7 shots; it doesnt get the 10/20% speed bonus from crew, so you have do to a bit of volley manipulation, but 7 shots without taking up a weapon space is awesome.

me, otoh, i played and won a easy run with Engi A, where i had one Hull 1, one Heavy 2 (crap weapon, 2 shots @ 3 power, 13 seconds) and one Ion 1.
I could not find a decent gun in the whole run.
but then again, i also had Hack 3, three Combat 1 drones + Drone Recovery arm, Zoltan Shield from the quest, and mind control.
 
dual Vulcans was probably the most fun.
it allowed the enemy ship to get some licks in b4 the vulcans ramped up to firing every sec.

not going to try quad Laser Burst II.
it'll probably be as silly as quad boss lasers, except with a faster firing rate 😱

but it wont upgrade to ftl: ae.

how do I upgrade it to advanced EDITION?

The advanced edition is packaged with the base game, you can turn it Off/On in the game settings.

You know I just realized I put in about 60hrs into this game. 😱

Its really addicting once you start, I find that each of my sessions can last well over an hour. To me its really engrossing.

nope.. don't see the AE on/off option like I see on my desktop 🙁

and I have 300hrs 😱
60hrs with AE since I found out about it a few weeks ago.

This has been one of my favorites over the last 5 or so years. Beat every difficulty, unlocked all the ships.
 
because some ships are just impossibru on hard mode.


btw; has anyone noticed, the player ships, and enemy ships, are reversed, in FTL ?

look at the player ships and their correspondent enemy ship. the most obvious is the mantis; the player mantis has the two "arms" facing backwards, the enemy mantis has the facing forward. zoltans too are reversed - players fire via the bulbous end, enemy fires through the pointy end.

i googled this and apparently, i'm the first to notice.
