Iam helping a friend out on a computer problem...was going to reinstall the OS with XP...when I was running the reinstall it bombed out and locked up...started it up only to get the error

ftdisk.sys is corrupt

so I went into dos...FDISK'd the drive...and created a new logical partition...and formatted the drive

only to get the same damn error when I tried to re-install windows...

Anyway around this ? the computer is old...and I don't have spare parts laying around to troubleshoot it...I thought formatting the drive in dos would fix it but I guess I was wrong...

Any help would be apprecaited...

Thanks,

Leeland
