I got tired of the legal mumbo jumbo a while back. If I understand it correctly this list is now in full effect right? Eitherway I've found that we are getting little to no telemarketing calls at the moment. I guess the list must be working, cause something is better in my life!

How do you get your paws on that list anyway? I presume it's kept in an FTC database which is updated every few months - so how do you do the initial port into your database?

I signed up for it months ago, but I'm still getting calls every day. Is there a way to find out if you are actually on the list?

I was thinking of resigning just to be sure, but I don't want it to somehow take me off if I AM on it.

What calls are you getting? You can still get those of businesses you've dealt with, charities, etc.

I got signed up and havent gotten any telemarketers yet.
Just fund raisers and surveys.....

It seems to be mainly Mortgage companies trying to give me a better rate (which would be kind of hard, as I paid my house off last November). I get 2 or three of these calls a week. Then there are the window people trying to sell me tilt in windows (which I already have). The rest are your normal PITA calls (I work out of my home so I guess I get more than most people who are out when these idiots call).

DNC lists are great. Been on one for almost two years now and have had no problems with telemarketers.

the company has to pay to get the list
then you download it via ftp
and user bulk import to put it in sql server
then add a column to your customer table (isdonotcal (bit))
and then run a huge query to update the ones that are on the dncl
then you delete the huge table
then you download the list of change every week
and after a year and a half you redownload the whole list (you have a year and a half after you do business with the customer with right to call him even if he is on the dncl)
then you change all reports and form on the client to show DONOCALL instead of the number when the bit field is set to 1 in the customer table
that's it !!!

The number of unsolicited phone calls I've gotten in the last two weeks can be counted on one hand. With no fingers.

Seriously, the phone would ring at least once an hour from 6:00 to 9:00 every night. I use caller ID to screen calls, and every time it was a non-listed number.

I was counting the minutes until the first wave of registrations kicked in.

Past two days I have been getting phone calls from a 954 area code saying that "AT&T is trying to place a telemarketing phone call" and then proceeds to rattle off a 800 number for ME to call! WTF! :frown:
