Free-to-air what? TV stations?

You can get free-to-air High-Def broadcasts from your local network affiliates-- just get yourself an HD Tuner and a good antenna.

If you want to record, I'd recommend getting an HDTV Tuner card for your PC-- you can watch TV, record it, burn to DVD, etc. One big benefit is that the picture quality is better than anything you can get over cable or satellite.

I wanted to subscribe to a certain satellite station from europe and as a result I also have access now to a few FTA channels. They all suck. Half of them are some religious whacko channels.

Some receivers are working but Dish is sending out different keys in the stream at least every day which means constant reprogramming. I was big into DTV hacking years ago.

And now if dave has a record of you purchasing smart card programmers, then they can serve you with one of their lovely letters demanding thousands of dollars since they now have proof of you admiting you actually used it for hacking (vs just posessing it).

Not exactly something I would admit to.

They were fun times though. ;)

P.S. Anybody want to buy the P3 hack? j/k BTW

LIES!!!!! Free to air will never be dead. Yes, DN and BEV are both down except for card sharing units, but there are hundreds of channels on dozens of satellites that will always remain unencrypted and completely FREE.
