We all have a point of view and events that shape that. So yes there is going to be some bias in media outlets. To eliminate bias to the extent you're asking is to eliminate humanity from the process and I think would ultimately be a mistake. Its important for us to be able to connect with what is happening otherwise its just information and yes you don't develop an emotional connection. Personally I want to be able to understand people and be able to understand what is affecting them and how it happened. Being able to empathize is important to me.
Hell you have a bias against things you can't see with your own eyes it appears. Even then your perspective might not be the actual truth.
I appreciate your honest responses.
This is very true. We all see through our own biased eyes so not only is the supposed news event filtered heavily by someone else, it is also filtered by your own self (which is even worse). And then you will repeat it to someone else and it will be filtered even further.
You say you want to empathize with people. Well, unfortunately, the media wants the opposite based on all the fear porn they push. Have you noticed the increase in negativity in everything in the past 15 years? Or even in the past 5? With all this fear they push, we will have less empathy towards our fellow man because fear leads to hate - which is exactly what is happening.
And now, we have naive people thinking that just because they can turn off CNN or Fox News and watch "alternative" news that they will be well informed. Well, they couldn't be farther from the truth. They are just going to another group of liars and manipulators under a different guise.
We humans need to come together and solve all our problems together. Please leave aside your race and political affiliations.
(Unfortunately, the media is further dividing us based on every aspect - race, religion, politics, etc)
