Cylindrical or flat- does it make a difference to our eyes (strain and perception) how flat a tube is???

I heard that the shape doesn't strain your eyes, it's the refresh rate, so why (other than anti-glare) would one buy a flat monitor???

thanks

There is a multitude of technical explanations to this but my 2 cents is that flat just looks damn better. :)

hey gosharkss-

you mentioned once that the white is possibly better for the eyes than the black.

you're a monitor guy, what do you think about it?

MPR and TCO are guidelines set forth by the Swedish governments (National Board for Measurement and Testing, MPR) and the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees (TCO) to regulate emission, safty and ergonomics properties of electrical equipment. TCO guidelines are more strict than the MPR guidelines. Over the years ther have been many revisions to these guidlines. MPR-II. TCO-92, TCO-95 and the latest standard TCO-99. These international standards have been adopted by countries worldwide.

Monitors with black bezels cannot meet the ergonomics standards set forth in TCO-99. You can find more information on TCO

Once you get used to flat tubes everything else looks funny.
Colors are also way better on a FD, perfect for games and dvd. And I must say I feel less eyes strain on a flat monitor, but maybe that's just me;)

This is interesting. You say you feel less eye strain on a flat monitor, I believe you, however what are you comparing it to?
