FSB800 3ghz p4 and P4PE

hi

i currently have an ASUS P4PE FSB533 motherboard. i've upgraded to the latest bios revision and
installed DDR400 memory, and recently installed an FSB800 P4 3ghz in it.

it runs fine, and feels a fair bit faster, but i was wondering if any hardware damage (to the CPU) could result
in this configuration. i don't care about the motherboard, i'm trashing it soon for the P4C800-E, but i'm more
concerned that the CPU will remain OK until i get the replacement board

Why would it.....200fsb is spec and as long as you are giving it no more then 1.65v of actual vcore you are fine....

That board has a agp/pci lock so I don't see any stress be added to hDDs and/or pci cards....

Just a thought, but unless you Need the extra goodies on the 800c-e, why not opt for the p4p800 and not only save some $$, but headaches as well.

Are you actually getting 200fsb on your P4PE? That's amazing for a motherboard designed for 100fsb and 133fsb processors. In the reviews for the P4PE I've read, the highest it usually gets up to is 190fsb.

hmm, i'm not sure, what would be a guaranteed way to check?
i'm running BIOS revision 1007, and when i select the CPU speed to be 3000Mhz, the fsb speed changes to 200mhz automatically.

is it lying?

I wasn't saying your motherboard was lieing to you, just pretty lucky to get an 845pe motherboard that will do 200mhz fsb that's all.

big lar: performance wise, is there a big difference between P4P800 and P4C800? thats actually what i care most about, and the P4P is roughly half the price of the P4C here.

also, what kind of problems are to be found with the P4Cs?
