I have a prescott 3.0 with 800fsb? If that's the case, shouldn't my ram also be running at 800 mhz to be synchronous with the processor? How does that work if I only have 1 gig of pc3200 ddr400 ram?

No. Intel figures it's ram is quad pumped. Ex, 200mhz x 4 = 800mhz. So, if your ram is set to 200mhz it's already in synch.
