FSB Question

I was looking at this same exact CPU the other day for my next system, and it said 1600mhz FSB, but now it says FSB: Integrated Into Chip. What does that mean?? and why does it says "The only windows compatible chip"

As far as the Windows thing, it says, "The Only 64-bit Windows Compatible Processor". The key part of that sentence is 64-bit. There is a beta 64-bit version of Windows out there and I think it's still free to download.

Athlon 64 has built the memory controller into the processor. So you will see the FSB: Integrated Into Chip. The FSB speed 200 MHz DDR.

The FSB is technically the link between the memory controller and the CPU. The Athlon 64 has an integrated memory controller, thus integrating the FSB. They were probably using the HyperTransport link between the CPU and the chipset as the FSB. Also, you misread, it says, "The Only 64-bit Windows Compatible Processor."

The FSB is integrated onto the chip because the Athlon64 has the memory controller on the cpu. I never fully understood why places say 1600mhz, because it runs at whatever the cpu speed is. It won't matter much when your actually using it. Your "fsb" in bios will default to 200, or ddr400. So just use it as normal from there.
