I'm currently experiencing a weird problem with my A7V when i try to overclock using the FSB.
NOTE that this problem only started recently. Thinking back, i cannot remember exactly what i had changed to make FSB overclocking impossible for my A7V, but i think it's possible that it was a bios update to 1.004.
Also note that my Duron 700Mhz Can do 1Ghz at 1.75V Perfectly. (I tested more than a week)
My Ram which is PC100 64MB does PC133 CAS2 Perfectly too.
A few days ago when i started clocking to 1Ghz, i meddled around with the dipswitches and after enabling the CPUID detection which booted my Duron at default speed, i went to my bios and booted at 770Mhz with my FSB at 110Mhz and there was no problem at all.
But since then i've been unable to run my FSB at anything above 100Mhz. Even 101Mhz causes my computer not too boot! I've also tried the most conservative settings in the bios meaning setting my ram at PC100, CAS3 and using the normal instead of optimal setting in the bios. But it's still no go.
After saving the new settings and the higher FSB, i exit and reboot but my monitor light simply remains amber. The regular solution is to press the reset button twice and then the motherboard boots with default settings.
Only other changes i've made to the MB are changing IO voltage from 3.56V to 3.3V (long time ago, doesn't seem related to the problem) and also changing the CPU default voltage from AUTO to 1.72-1.8V
Anyone have any idea of what's happening? Also, i find this Asus bios irritating as i cannot change the PCI speed and the AGP speed.
