I know this has probably been answered before, but I did't find it in search.

Should I run a high FSB and low multiplier, or low FSB and high multiplier when OCing?

This is on a MSI 2a w/ a Tbird 800...

Thanks!

Run as high as you can on both! (the obvious answer)

Actually, I think it is best to run the FSB as high as you can because it also speeds up everything else on your system including: memory; AGP, PCI & ISA buses. Basically the FSB overclocks everything in your PC.

I'm sure there are many guides on the web better than this but I usually overclock the CPU's FSB as high as I can go while stable, then set it to normal, then do the same with the multiplier(just to find it's upper threshholds). Then I find a mix where both are stable. Just make sure you invest in a good Power supply and heat sink and all will be well!

good luck...

flyers1 pretty much said it all, you want as high an FSB as you can get with as high a multiplier you can get... But let's say you can run at a max of either 11x100=1100 or 10x110=1100 (just an example, I'm not saying yours will do that), you go with the one that has the faster FSB.

Alright, so if I raise the FSB I am risking all components, but by playing with the multipier I am only risking the chip. I think I'll raise the FSB just a tad and the mult. alot. Thanks..

Is there another way to increase my memory speed besides the FSB (like how you can use progs to increase vid card speed)? I have 100mhz board (msi kt7 2a) but 133mhz memory.
