FS issue

I paid for an iMac on Wed, Sept. 28 via paypal for the amount of $750 to a very well respected member of this board. He made no contact with me again until the 5th, even after one PM requesting a DC number and one Email requesting the same. He said he was out of town and everything had been shipped.

He said it was mailed and I asked for the DC number, didn't get anything.

On the 6th I asked for the DC number again, no response.

On the 7th I asked for the DC number again, twice, no response.

I'm quite concerned as can be expected when trusting someone with $750.

Thoughts? Dozens of people have vouched for him, but I don't see any action on his part that has led me to believe it was shipped. Do I keep begging for a DC number?

You paid him 12 days ago, almost 2 weeks.

If he's busy and hasn't shipped it yet, I just hope he's honest and says so.

Did you get a contact phone number?

When was the member last active?

He has my number.

He was last on 10/7. I sent him the last message about 3 hours before he was last online.

If it's who I think it is, they may have been affected (or at least inconvenienced) by Hurricane Rita.

I would politely demand they confirm it was shipped and demand a tracking number.

It is who you think it is.
He's been trading pretty consistently since Hurricane Rita.

AFAIK he has a great reputation.

I'm sure he's just busy but it's no excuse for lack of communication.

If you do a search for his name you will notice that he has had some issues with disappearing. There are two threads about it in FS.

They have your number. Do you have theirs?

Three days without responding by PM regarding an active transaction for a trader (especially over a weekend) should not be considered acceptable)

Ya I had dealings with a trader like that before, I would send him pm's and never get any answers back, even though he would come online several times a day. He was not by any means "respected" though, so I would say for you just to wait it out and see, maybe things happen. But lack of communication is very bad overall, especially online, and more so for expensive items.

I have his now. Another member PMed me with it. It is his home number, so I dunno how likely it is he will be there if he is working as much as people say.

Start a Paypal dispute - that will either get your item shipped, or your money back.

His/her behavior is completely unacceptable, regardless of the amount of the transaction.

Call the number starting at 8PM and every hour until you sack out of 10PM.
If answering machine picks up, leave message in detail.

Repeat next day.
Include message that you will start a dispute within 24 hours unless communication is restored.
Indicate that the person has been on line to AT efffective such time and that PMs & e-mails were sent well before such time.

Allow 48 hours and start the dispute.

Day 14, nothing. I did get a PMing telling me to "fear not." No tracking number, though.

I would just want to know if he shipped it yet or not?

Yes or no, it's a very simple question.

If you ever receive this package, I hope you leave appropriate feedback.

sounds strange... you should set a date for the paypal dispute.

If its who I think it is, you need to post in the FS/T forums about this. I am afraid its the guy who keeps doing this to people and thinks its okay just because he has been here awhile.
