FS/FT Forum feature request...

I was just glancing through the "above the fold" posts in FS/FT and realized that, as usual around the holidays, there is a high level of troll activity, even involving previously identified bad traders cross-listed from other forums...

I got to thinking, while EVERYONE should view the "Traders To Avoid" list on a regular basis, most people only seem to know bad traders from who's already struck at AT and have stickied posts dedicated to them. it would be a lot easier for people to stay abreast of such characters if the "Traders To Avoid" list were in forum format instead of a single-post list. This could be a moderator-only forum in the same way that the existing post is locked and edited by mods as necessary. Only difference would be, each troll would get their own post.

The main benefit would be the ability to RSS feed the forum title info to members and spread the info MUCH faster and more reliably for those who choose to get fed. Not foolproof but another means of dissemination cannot hurt.

I obviously have no idea the technical limitations of the site or scheduling loads of the mods/developers that might prevent such an undertaking, but it seems like a very good use of RSS technology that's already integrated into the forum.

Comments and opinions on this idea are welcome.

I always wondered why they didn't do subforums. It would clear up the Software - Apps, Programming and Games mess. Does Fusetalk support this?

The Categories menu could read:

> Software - Apps, Programming and Games
>> Applications
>> Programming
>> Games

And each would be its own seperate forum. I suppose it would be too much moderation overhead on a forum of this size.

While I agree with subforums making everyone's lives generally easier, in all actuality it has no bearing on the main request I was making... whether from a forum or subforum, how does everyone else feel about an RSS feed for troll info?

 to the idea of an RSS feed of traders to avoid. The idea of making it a subforum that FS/FT people could subscribe to would be the easiest way to make it work. Plus, I think that it would be a move that would help to bolster the AT forums as a better community.

I didn't mean to digress with your topic. I apologize. Having the subforum listed in your subtopic made me jump on the chance to bring up an idea on subforums that has been nagging in my mind. The topic about the spliting programming off has become nothing more that people bumping it to the top to keep it active...
