Ya kung is right, I dunno what severtki sees but, outpost has 2 rebates as well, not 1.

Pretty good deal, unfortunatly for us so-cal people, the tax makes it less of a deal. And since for me personaly id have to drive an hour to get to frys, the gas kills it. But thats about the lowest price ive seen at a retail store for this drive. Good find.

Sorry --I just saw "$50 rebate" at the top of the screen and jumped the gun.

still not a bad deal if you're thinking about this drive.

When they had this deal before on the 120GB drive, first in January and then again March (IIRC), WD paid both rebates promptly on the drives I bought, and you could check the rebate status on their website. The 120GB had a 1-yr warranty then -- dunno if they've changed it. The Raptor has a 5 year warranty.

edit: That 1200JDRTL is still just 1 yr wty -- fooey.

A secret for buying Western digital drives. Buy OEM's only. OEM's have 3 years warranty. :)

ARe there any pricematch possibilites at frys with rebates? Do pms are frys void rebates? Ive never pm'd at a frys before with rebates. And are there any stores to even pm at? If so, this deal could get pretty nice.

Also fyi, you can find oem raptors for $140-$150 shipped on these forums or ebay. That would be my best suggestion for people who pay tax like me.

By the way. Monarchcomputers has the OEM raptor for $175 with a $20 rebate. So $155AR with free shipping.

Changed order, just ordered from monarch with the rebate, $155 no tax, no shipping, 1 rebate, SWEET DEAL!

Thanks OP and Modempower,
The tax and drive to local Frys killed the deal for me, it would actually be more expensive at Fry's for me than at monarch with tax, and gas factored in...
And, since my ASUS motherboard came with like 8 SATA connectors and power cables, the OEM drive is great for me, I need to reformat anyways....

Question: modempower says OEM drives have 3 year warrantys, but clearly on both ZZF and Monarch it says 5 year warranty on the OEM drive... so I assume the websites are correct??

also do any 10k rpm drives have NCQ ? Does this Drive? (Thought about NCQ after I bought it)

I said it has 3 years? I was probably talking about Western digital OEMs, non-raptors. Raptors have 5 years.

Raptors do not have NCQ, but they use TCQ. I neeed another 74gb Raptor for my 2nd A64 build and might just end up getting mobo, CPU, vid card, and raptor all from Monarch (maybe some RAM, too). Prices are pretty competitive there.

Not a decent deal. Esp when in real world testing (the only tests that actually matter), the Seagate 7200.8s are faster than Raptors. While still being cheaper and having much more storage space.

Neweggs 7200.8 200GB price, no rebates

Raptors are fast, and great drives. But overhyped.
Real world testing is all that matters and there are faster drives out there. Not to mention my two 200GB 7200.8s in RAID-0 are near silent.
