don't know about the rest of TX, or nationwide, but in Arlington the Maxtor 60gb 8mb drive is in the paper as $74.99 - $40 rebate = $34.99. The drive is labeled as $99.99, but priced on the shelf as $54.99. The salesman says they are priced this way because the paper is wrong - there is no rebate. At checkout, the price comes up as $54.99, but there is no rebate form. On Maxtor's sight, there is a $40 rebate specifically for Fry's, with the correct date listed. I see no reason why this rebate wouldn't work - so I expect to get it for $54.99 - $40 = $14.99. Of course, if you're not in Arlington TX, YMMV...

Missed it by one day...

"Offer good on purchases made between 5/9/03 and 5/15/03 at Fry's electronics or Outpost.com"

I guess the $34 would still work since there is a $20 through 5/24.

Thanks for the great deal. I went and bought one at the Arlington Fry's tonight, there were only 2 left. It rang up for 54.99 and the guy asked me if was onsale, I said yes and he said he might get the other one. I saw a teenage kid with his father walking around with one too. I wonder if he's from these forums.

I think the new Fry's on 635 had a bunch of these left.

Also picked up a Siig Mobile USB 2.0 Hub for $20 with a $25 rebate.
Getting paid $5 for a normally ridiculously overpriced item as a USb 2.0 Hub isn't to bad.

Must.... resist... temptation.....

Argh! The Irving Fry's is just around the corner from the office here.... and lunch will be coming up in a little while...

I can already hear my wallet screaming in agony as I suck more money out of it.
But more hard drive space is Always a Good Thing.

Irving is $59.99 same model as on the linked rebate. Plenty in stock, look for the photocopy sheet hanging below the drives explaining how the newspaper ad was wrong. All marked $99.99, but it rings up at the register.

Went to Fremont Fry's today. It rang up $99.99 at the register. :frown:
Perhaps the $54.99 deal was good for yesterday only?

Basically it said that the newspaper ad was a misprint, published 99.99-40.00=59.99. Nor MIR, so they would honor the 59.99 in store.

Probably a local typo... or story, not sure. At any rate, since the MIR is directly off the Maxtor web site it looks pretty good to me.

Schweet, just scored 1 for $54.99 at Arlington, Tx Fry's. There were 3 left on the shelves, price good till 5/20. After tax and $40 rebate, it's gonna be $19.11 for a 60gb 8mb cache hard drive. Thanks for the heads up!!!!
