I missed that! I thought that Creative only had 4 cards that carried the X-Fi name; the Extreme, Platinum, Falat1ty, and Elite. The part number on the old box for the Fatal1ty was: 70SB046600002 I have not found that part number on Frys' page. Linky

So what did I actually order from Frys?

nucem, you got the fps edition. which is the good one. newegg sells this version for 185 before rebate. the other fatality doesnt come with the io box or remote. you got the better one 🙂

creative also recently releases 2 budget cards under the x-fi name. the xtremeaudio and xtremegamer

Thanks Tyrant222.

Earlier when I tried to download the rebate form I got the same error as everyone else but I was able to access the server (Linky) that they had for all the rebate forms. I still did not find the right form.

Yes, I'm in CA bay area. What's this about the 'FPS' model of the card? I don't know if I got that or not.

Just noticed it gave an error on the order, and now it won't add it to the basket at all.

The $100 after $50 rebate is only on Fry's website. The in store price is $200 with no rebate being offered. (Sacramento store) The link to the rebate was working an hour ago but I see it is down again. Tuesday, the 28th, is the last day so maybe they will have the link fixed by then. 🙂

My take on this card would be two things.
1) What do you get on this card compared to the Xtreme Music version which is also being heavily discounted? Onboard RAM that is still not used for any games and a front board. That's it, right?
2) The X-FI line is apparently being discontinued in favor of Xtreme Audio and Xtreme Gaming with the newest "hot" item being the Fatality Xtreme Gaming. With all the known issues Creative has had with the Xtreme series have they finally come up with some truly new boards or are these just rehashes of the old ones? And a super price on a great board being discontinued is one thing but a super price on a problem board is another.

I have also heard rumors that older games not written for OpenAL will not support EAX in vista (like the old EAX that went through DirectSound), is this true?

Any luck printing the rebate form ?
Nope. Had to click on the "Mail the form to me" button. I hate that, but I have always received my rebate forms from Fry's when requested. A word of caution - Fry's ain't the fastest, so make sure you send in the rebate as soon as you get the form from them so you get it in by the rebate deadline!

The folks at Frys e-mailed me a copy of the rebate form.🙂 If anyone wants a copy of the pdf file let me know.

I received the card just now. The delivery date was given as 12/1 and I got 11/29. It was ordered on 11/26. That was quick.

received backordered notice. they don't expect to have them in stock any sooner than dec 20th.
i dont know how the rebate will work, since it wasn't bought within the specified time, so
we may get denied. i'm cancelling my order. 🙁

I had seen this in store for about that price over Thanksgiving, but I had already bought it for 130 AR from amazon, got rebate check yesterday, and love the card.

Received mine yesterday. That was the fastest service I've ever received from any computer store. Mine shipped from Ohio so maybe that's the reason.
