Don't spend that much for 266Mhz. You can get way better for that price.

I saw that same deal here up in Wilsonville, OR(no tax) in the ad today. It's good up till Tuesday.
I might have to pick it up for a system I'm building for a friend. It includes a boxed cpu with fan and 3 year warranty if that's important to you. It probably wont overclock that much but that's not a big deal for this computer I'm building
Good luck

Oh yeah, forgot to say that the cheapest price for both of these is from newegg which has the iwill for $107 and the 1ghz 266 retail cpu for $152 with a shipping charge of $15.
Total turns out to be $274 which is a good savings if you want retail and not concerned about overclocking that much.

Why won't it overclock that much? (assuming you still get an AXIA core)

dbz-what do you mean if your not concerned with overclocking that much. I have had very good luck with this board and that chip in overclocking, unless you feel 40% is not much.

The IWILL KK266 has a passive heatsink on the North Bridge, LIMITING it's overclock potential... but just stick on a fan. not a big deal. Anandtech reviews said just putting on a fan made it overclock better.

According to the Iwill forum over at amdmb.com, adding a fan to the northbridge does not help in most cases. YMMV with an added fan.

It's not that MB is bad, I have a KK266-R and it runs awesome. It's that Fry's sells in volume so they would most likely have the newest batch of tbird. And from everybody's results in the CPU and overclocking forum and other sites, the newer batches of AXIA's don't overclock as high since AMD started to bind their cpu's. Most of the newer ones would only overclock to around 1.1-1.2ghz range. I think week 14 is where they start not overclocking so well.
That's just what I've read on various different sites and forums. I have a 1ghz axia week11 that overclocks to 1.4ghz so I was farely lucky.
Your mileage in overclocking may vary.
Good luck overclocking.

FYI, I have a week 14 266Mhz FSB 1 Ghz Athlon with the AXIA stepping, and it overclocks to 1.33 Ghz at a voltage of 1.69 Volts. Also, it posts at 1.466 Ghz with a voltage of 1.75 Volts! :D Anyway, this chip is a retail one, so some retail chips are highly overclockable.. ;)

My bad... It might have been "put thermal grease" on the heatsink. not sure.
