Fry's sale AMD64 x2 3800+ again this weekend

Not as good as the BF sale. Fry's Chicago has this for just over $300, a deal if you were already in the market for the CPU because you can unload the motherboard for a few bucks (if you had a particular board in mind or were going to overclock).

Fry's Chicago also has the 3500+ with ECS RS482-M board for about $215 or so. That one is a better deal as far as deals go because that board is a nicer one with decent IGP and PCIe.

Yep ECS site says it does support dual core. But Via's does not say it does or does not.

Looks like a decent basic board. I would not expect to much overclocking

Zap,

Wow. I'm impressed that the Midwest has a FRY's. I thought they only stay in the West Coast/Southwest to be close to their distribution channels.

After going to that link, I do see they charge a little more to be in the Midwest. That ECS/3500+ combo for $199 is $179 in Vegas.

Hot damn! For $179, that's almost as cheap as the 3200+ CPU by itself. Gah, we're getting the short shrift here in the Midwest.

Fry's has some amazing deals. On Black Friday, they had the 3800 dual core with ecs nforce4 board for $279 here in Austin Tx.

Just be glad you have a FRY's! I'm sure there is no other store that compares in Chicago. On some items, it is even cheaper than NewEgg.

Actually there's a Microcenter somewhere in the greater Chicago area as well. They're kinda like the East coast version of Fry's, or something...
