Does anyone here have any experience with Fry's and their return policy on CPUs and Mobos? I purchased a CPU (retail) and Mobo(retail) combo about 20 days ago and finally got around to putting the system together this weekend. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the sticker on the CPU box that indicated it was a return but was "checked" and found to be okay by them. I may have to exchange it but their warranty is specific onback of the receit that they only allow 15 days for CPUs. If I have to go with Intel, how good are they on warranties? Can I send it to them and have them check it? Thanks

I have returned lots of things at Fry's, but not CPUs... I've been in line when people have returned them however, and those guys really give people the 3rd degree when they try to return CPUs....

You should be able to do it I guess, just be prepared for a fight! :) Don't let them push you around though ;)

if i spend over 20 bucks on anything, i like to make sure im getting what i need

Fry's has the GREATEST return policy on CPUs that I have ever seen. Within a year if your CPU fails ... bring it back. As long as there is no physical damage they'll give you a new one. So unless you chip off your core you're good to go. They'll even take it back if it works (I had a chip that would fail if I tried to enable my L2 cache) and they just gave me a new one. In fact, I was once in line and the guy ahead of me returned a chip that had the corner knocked off his core .... after drilling him for a minute (what can you expect ... the guy obviously messed up his chip) they still gave him a new one.

every retail intel chip has the same thing for 3 years.

You probably can't return it for a refund but they'll probably exchange it for you... :) those stickers don't mean jack... i returned something one day and went to look for something else... 30 minutes later... my returned item was sitting on a cart waiting to be put back on the shelf... :D But you gotta admit they have a kickass policy... which CC has now started using as well.
