Fry's rebate question

I bought some memory from Fry's the other day, and it has a 30 dollar rebate on it. I also happened to buy a whole systems worth of components on the same receipt. On this particular rebate (Fry's rebate, not manufacturer), it asks for the original receipt. Does that sound right? I called Fry's and they said that if anything went wrong they would honor the copy for returns/exchanges. Sounds kinda fishy to me. I don't really want to send the original. Do you think it would be ok to send the rebate a copy and take my chances? Anyone else have to deal with this? Thanks

Usually Fry's prints a rebate coupon just for that item because thats what they did when I bought a WD hard drive

No, you create a copy of everything, then you send the original+ original UPC code for the rebate and keep the copies at home until you get your rebate $$. Its a lot easier to argue w/a frys associate if you have a copy of the reciept and UPC code of what ever than a long distance rebate company whose primary goal is to redeem as few rebates as possible.

Yea I have that copy for the rebate, but it states that they need the original, or do you think that would qualify as the original
