Yes, that's $299.99 + tax. Yes that is 9800 PRO AIW. Just went in to check on that WD hard drive deal, and got more than I bargained for. Hot, or not? ;)

UPDATE: Clarified title, deal still active AFAIK.

Houston, TX! I'm waiting until I do my clean install of win XP on the new mobo and BARTON XP2600 (combo) for $109 out the door as well. Yes, that's a barton deal folks, Fry's deals insanity today.

Those are some good sales. LA/OC doesn't have either one of those deals. :( The Albatron/retail 2600+ is $170 and the 9800 AIW is $349.

They initially tried to sell me the 2600 retail combo for $170 as well, I got to the checkout and told them the salesperson had informed me that the deal was $109, they gave me the OEM for that price. Not complaining, picked up a HS/fan for 15 bucks, saved $45. I didn't look at an ad to see if that was actually the correct deal, so I suppose it's a YMMV. :D

why do you buy a 2600 barton OEM for 109 while you can buy a retail barton 2500 for 92? considering the 3 year warranty for retail

Man, that is hot. You'd be hard pressed to find a 9800 pro retail for $299, let alone an aiw.

Because it comes with a free motherboard...

Stopped by Renton's Fry's and saw the Radeon 9800 PRO AIW for $449.99. No deal over there :(

Will keep an eye on the paper tomorrow.

Thanks,

Friday's Seattle Times paper has the XP 2600+ and an Abit KD7A motherboard for $109 at Renton Fry's. I wonder if the cpu is the 266mhz fsb t'bred or the 333mhz fsb t'bred or a barton core? Anybody bought this and can clear up any confusion?

Funny thing, this deal wasn't even IN the ad. They were selling the 9800 Pro for $349, and the 9800 Pro AIW for $299. Checked with the salesperson, gawked, snatched one. If I had credit, I'd have bought them out. Deal still active AFAIK... :)

Didn't see any Radeon AIW for $299 in Sacramento, CA. Do you have a Fry's item#? Hot deal, go pick it up!

This is too good to be true! So I just called Fry's in Houston and they have one of the ATI "AIW" 9800 pro left in stock and it is $499.99. Jus t knew it was too good to be true. The lowest price I have seen for this card at a computer show was $359.

Flew into Houston Wednesday, flew out Thursday. Stopped at Fry's on left side of Interstate 45/75 just before turn-off to Airport (IAH). Just south of the Best Buy.

Went in and saw at least 75 of the ATI 9800 128M Pro AIW's on the shelf. Each was marked $449 each on box.

But on shelf was taped a local special indicating a $299 price. I inquired with a older sales person, and yes indeed it was a one week unadvertised special, or so he said. Sales guy said they had a few more cases in the back. (These were stacked on back wall with rest of the video cards, not in any special place).

That Fry's location then had one less after I walked out. A little less than than $324 including tax.

One of you Houston boys lucky enough to score this ought to take your receipt into Circuit City and see if they'll do a PM...if so, you'd be getting it for a little cheaper, as well as supplying us with a receipt to use elsewhere (if you were so kind :))

Dang, almost worth the 200 mile drive south, but not quite.... :) (if it was a 1 hour drive - I'd be there, 4 hours 1 way is too far...)
