119.99 - $50 MIR + tax and postage = really quiet drive for under $1 a gigabyte. retail kit too! only a couple left at austin, don't know if they'll put in more or not, rebate is good until 2/20

I just picked this up on Sun. at the Manhattan Beach Fry's. They had about 10 of these when I went, but most people were oblivous. Retail box 80gig Barracuda IV for $120 + tax - $50 rebate. $79.90 (or so) after taxes and rebate. Not bad for a fast, quiet drive. Gonna pop it into my TiVo.

Just curious: is this a good idea? I have one of these 'Cudas, and I love it, but they run very hot, and I was under the impression that TiVo boxes probably shouldn't be running hot drives?

I've been reading up on using these drives in a TiVo on the AVS Forum. Word is that they work well, no heat problems. Will find out soon, I guess.

Over a month ago I picked up this exact same drive at Best Buy for $90AR. They might still have a deal on it....

I'm using this drive right now on my main puter. It's VERY QUIET.
If it wasn't for the HDD LED I wouldn't know it's working.
