Thanks underdawg! Can you tell me the manufacturer and the model number so I can try to find some more info on the 'net? Thanks!

That Verbatim DVD burner looks mighty tempting but I really hate FRYS. You get ignored in the entire store and get harrased to be bag checked on your way out. Its real funny seeing groups of 3 sales rep talking to each other all thoughout the store. I been to more than 5 Frys so it a common thing in Southern Calif.

Inland 6-Outlet Surge Protector = $0 after $2.50 MIR

Out of all rebates in year 2002, this is the only one I have not gotten back :|. Don't buy it!!!

Kaser's video cards are most definitely low-end. I've installed a couple of them and never had a problem so I can't comment on their tech support. I do know that their rebate policies/procedures are some of the strictest I've encountered. It is possible to get a rebate check from them. Just follow their instructions to the letter and wait an interminable period of time.

Nonetheless, it's a new 32MB video card for < $15.

It's 64MB 🙂

I bought one of these on Wednesday when it was on sale for the same price. So far it works great and overclocks a little, too. It comes at default 143/143 core/memory speed (7ns chips 128-bit SDR SDRAM memory). It's around the same speed as a GF2 MX400 when overclocked to 166/166, which is the speed I'm running it. In games, 16-bit dithering on this card is ugly, but 32-bit looks fine.

I think it's a good bargain for $15 AR.

Here are a few things that caught my eye:

Combo's:
Celeron 2.0GHz OEM cpu/ECS P4VXASD2+ mobo = $119.99 (limit 1/customer)
Athlon XP 2200+ Retail cpu/ASUS A7V8X Deluxe mobo = $229.99 (limit 1/customer)
P4 2.4GHz Retail cpu/Albatron PX845PEV Pro mobo = $249.99
P4 2.4GHz OEM cpu/ECS P4VXASD2+ mobo = $159.99 (limit 1/customer)

can anyone suggest one of these? I have a POS computer that i want to replace, a PII 300, and would rather one of the ones under $200...should i get one of these, or look someplace else?

Click on the link provided by Dan. Select Technology and then select the second Fry's . It in the top right corner of the second page.

May be different in L.A. but I have been shopping
at Fry's for several years in both Dallas/Arilington/Austin.

Never had any problem with returns, exchanges or service.

I think some of those deals also apply to the Bay Area Fry's, at least Fremont. I saw the Maxtor 80 gig/8 mb cache and the EPO 58x CD-ROM and the 512 mb PC2700 for the same prices as you listed, in the Fry's ad I was looking at this morning.

Never had a problem in southern Calif either. For some things it is worth paying a little extra at Fry's because of the easy return.

Thanks, I can't believe I couldn't see it before!

I only had one problem... I bought a 60gb hard drive back a couple years ago for $100 after rebate (good price) but then after the rebate ended I found it for a better price 2 times.. They pricematched fine.. Then I saw it cheaper AGAIN (3rd time) at SAMS club and went to pricematch... They called SAMS and it took sams over 1 hour to finally tell the Fry's guy what price they had... Only complaint was that the fry's guy didn't take my word, but I really don't blame him... That's the only bad experience I've had with buying OR returning stuff at fry's (and it really isn't a complaint since he did what he was supposed to do)...

That being said, pretty much any major purchase I make is online since it's cheaper than fry's (and returning stuff online is definitely harder than any B&M store)... I use fry's for their sales, usually on maybe a cdrw, cdr media, networking stuff... I am VERY happy that we have a Fry's here in Arlington.. saves me a lot of $ 🙂

I can't believe you got fry's to match Sams Club. Regular stores love to shoot down price matches with Sams or Costco because of the membership fee.

am i just being dumb, but on the link, there is a cdrw MAX 52x24x52 for only 19.99 *limit one per customer. it doesnt mention any type of rebate either...so, am i looking at the wrong place, or did you just forget to mention it?

You people have the luxury to complain about Fry's service. People out here on the east coast and the midwest are suffering by having to overpay at places like BB and CC, and I don't go to those places for the exemplary customer service either.

I have the luxury of BB, CC, Fry's AND paying 0% sales tax.

Yeah... go me - Staples nearby...Best Buy 1 hour away. NOTHING else. Go Maine - the best thing is Adelphia cable, which is never bogged down because there aren't enough people in a 50 mile radius to manage it. Thankfully I go to school 30 minutes from Boston.
