FRYS JUST PLAIN SUCKS

I have been a frys convert for about three years now, but none of my freinds would ever listen. until yesterday. one of them went to frys and bought a software that lets you play games that require the cd without the cd. he goes home to install it and opens the box and notices all that is there is just a manual, no cd no software nothing.

he inspects the box and sees that the bottom of the box is the tape but it was cut by a razor blade very nicely concealed. some genius cut the bootom of the box and took the game out.

he went back to frys to see what he can do. after waiting his turn in line for about 45 min, he talks to some guy who says they can't do anything. he waits another 30 min for a manager who says that it is not his problem. they get into a shouting match in the store and frustrated he just leaves.

he wants to stand outside frys with flyers telling people to not shop there anymore.

kermalou, just contact their corporate office and have your friend explain his situation, the wait times and the attitude of the people he dealt with. Also, make sure to have your friend say that he/she didn't want a refund or anything like that, just a replacement, hope this helps a bit 🙂

Hmmm....put yourself in their shoes. It sounds like BS for them, although I believe you. They have probably heard so many stories from people trying to rip Frys off.

File a police report. Say fry's defrauded him. You gotta be super careful at frys. There are tonnes of open box repackaged stuff with a tiny sticker that says so. Make sure it's brand new.

taht's why i stopped buying stuff from fry's except things like crimp connectors and all that electrical jazz

btw this happened to me when i bought d2:lod @virgin megastore too; i was SOL

yea there were a lot of open box volcano 7+. same price as new, but they were all missing their thermal pad.

During my brief sting at frys, I finally figure out why returning always sucks at frys....those people's pay is inversely related to how much they allow to be return that week :Q

Yes Fry's definately sucks @ss and 90 percent of the workers there don't know a damn thing about computers. Also they are lazy as hell and tend to give you an attitude when you ask for help. I once went to get some blue led to swap into my floppy drive and I couldn't find them in the led isle. I saw one of the workers and asked if they sell blue ones and without even hesitating he said no. So then I decided to just get the red leds instead and when I was searching through the lower section of the row, bam there were the blue LEDs. They came in clear epoxy so it was sort of harder to spot. They got way too many workers at my local Fry's and I think it's time to fire some.

Arround here the saying Frys is "The price brings you in, The quality brings you back. (unsaid but understood, back.... for exchange)

sorry to hear bout ur friends story.

thing is - their refund policy is soooooooo susceptible to fraudulent returns and yet they dont want to change it. so this is the way that they have settled with to deal with it.

yea frys sucks. prices are great. services sucks. u gotta be very wary of what u buy, especially anything that looks like its been returned.

CS @ Fry's.. never..

I have had to deal with fry's CS .. and I hate it..

UGH!

I limit my buying thesedays to dvd's and other stuff.. and if I do buy I make sure i check the box properly.

I had that happen once with software I bought from Target.

Got it home & realized it had been opened. Same situation, slit with a razor blade.

God was I pissed. I drove back that same night, & explained what happened. They have a no-return policy, but since there were no unopened boxes to exchange with they refunded my money.

I felt like a thief though, which sucked.

which fry's was this? i have never had a problem return anything back to fry's...even open software, cos i had the right reasons

its true, any of their loss prevention peeps would know games do get stolen that way😛 hell i've seen kids opening boxes, or simply copying the cd key😛 u should go back and try again.

stuff gets stolen at any store though. your friend shoulda checked the box b4 buying. u never know.

how to piss off frys? pretend to steal stuff 😉

its called performance art heheehhe

another sad story:

My brother's friend bought a retail box 20 GB Maxtor HDD last year for me to install in his PC. When I opened the box, it was a Quantum hdd. Plugged it in, powered up, nothing happened. I inspected it, I saw a hole in the chip on the main board. Somehow the IC was exploded.

He brought it back to Fry's and they refused to exchange it to him because the HHD was not Maxtor and the serial of course didn't match. The supervisor/manager there even accused him of trying to cheat them. This poor kid lost his $108 bucks just like that. He didn't know anything about computer stuff and thus he had no experience buying it either. What made me upset about it was that he was a 16 y.o HS student who worked part-time with minimum wage at a restaurant. That money was his one week salary.

What bothered me was that it was an open box with a white label stuck on it that said it was a return product but had been inspected and certified that everything was ok and working as new.

Conclusion:

When buying anything from Fry's,
1. you must inspect the packgage carefully to make sure that it's brand new
2. never buy openbox or return package.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE A STORE
3. you should also check for serial # on the receipt and on the product to make sure they're matched (when buying CPU, HDD, and other electronic stuff like VCR, etc.)
4. check all items on the receipt to make sure that there's not any extra charge (it happened to me once, I bought 2 modems but they charged for 3)

I think that should help you a little bit when shopping at Fry's. On the other note, I think we could press a class action suit against them if we could gather enough people who had been defauded by Fry's
